I think it's worth noting that while we are worried about Gaga not doing that, no one else is either. The media landscape has changed and really democratized things to such an extent that achieving that kind of absolute attention is pretty much impossible now. I'd say we ought to be content with where she's at with ASIB because that's incredible to get such wide praise (even from those who didn't love the movie; they can acknowledge she did well/the music is great).

Yes and No.

I believe she’s on track to become basically like Beyoncé is right now where she’s not as COMMERCIALLY successful, but she’s CULTURALLY successful.

The first step was cheek to cheek, the second was Joanne and the Super Bowl, now ASIB is massive and she’s everywhere again in one way or another.

The final step is her next POP album, it needs streaming, radio and promotion (not billboards or magazine covers, REAL MODERN PROMO we need late night talk show interviews and performances, memes, streaming site banners, tv adverts and worldwide promo, podcasting is big now too so she could appear on someone’s)

If it goes #1 and gets a top 10 hit with longevity on BILLBOARD then that’s that she’s proven she is still big and she’s still got it. But if not then she can live off tours and become an actress

Nah. The fact that it was her debut and she was unknown made her peak seem so high.

She's known now and she's established. It'll be difficult to peak like her early years. I'd say the asib era is the closest we've gotten to as of yet.

The hardest thing in this world is to live in it

Great analogy! Does that mean Dua Lingo, Camilla Cabello, and Bebe Rexha are birthday candles?

I would say so :huntyga:

No. But we never know what can happen in the next few decades...

But personally I feel really happy right now. You know, some kind of peaceful happiness. And I'm thankful to Tony for changing Gaga's life. Yesterday, I was rewatching some TonyGa interviews and when I look back at the last four years, I feel so emotional. She has overcome the backlash of ARTPOP and now is so respected as a vocalist. Open minded non-haters are convinced that she can truly outshine everyone without her 'antics'. It was a much needed recovery. And her voice has matured insanely...the Sound of Music tribute, the Super Bowl National Anthem, Till It Happens to You acclaim, Golden Globe for AHS, the numerous great performances and prestigious awards and now ASIB acclaim.

Will she ever have another diamond single/two consecutive top 3s followed by a top 10?

Followed by a tour that will gross $227 million?

It's a no brainer and the answer is obviously no

Every artist reaches that peak the Gaga has once in their career, you're only hot for so long and that the honest truth about it. Gaga was fortunate to have that peak when she started but I think now she focuses most on being happy and putting out the music she wants to put out there. Gaga no longer has to prove that she has got what it takes as she pretty much solidified her "icon, legend" status with the release of A Star is Born. She's made her money, she could quit at anytime she wants to hang up her hat, let's just all be greatful we have her healthy and stop excepting her to replicate the past.

I really appreciate you articulating it like that. I am having trouble understanding what the OP means by “peaking”. Is that radio play and charts? If it were in another genre besides pop, but that level of success - would that be an acceptable peak? I am def confused because this level of success in a first film, coupled with a soundtrack that is still soaring, suddenly recognized by the GP as a legitimate talent AND cultural phenom- this is not peaking?......

She’s doing right now. In fact this IS her peak in terms of GP-likeability. Maybe she’s not snatching #1s around the world left and right this time around but she’s never been so widely praised

2009-2011 peak = controversy based

2017-2018 peak = acclaim

Miracle

She's repeaking right now. An Oscar buzzing +300M (and it's just been a month) movie where she's the lead it's bigger than a number one, plus Shallow's got top 10 peaks in every important country except for South Korea (and Japan, but the movie hasn't been released there), so yeah. If she gets an Oscar we can officially say she's repeaked.

You don’t stay peaked, that’s not a good thing. You want to peak and then slowly assert yourself as an indistry icon, which is what she is doing. It gives you freedom to not need to please anyone.
