I didn’t like it either, it’s bland and meh, but it’s all we got so I didn’t complain, the movie is good :vegas:

I was also disappointed when I first saw it. The movie has so many saturated colors and what we have is a black and white poster. I thought it will be like La La Land or some other classic musicals with aesthetically-pleasing posters.

Anyway, the poster grew on me. The Dolby Cinema one and other promo pics are better tho.

I didn't like it at first but now I think it's great, it's so simile and elegant. I actually think Black, White and gold look amazing together.

What really made me appreciate the movie poster is that is so easy to recreate so fans of the movie are making their own version of it (I've seen a couple imitating it for Halloween for example).

I mean, it's pretty iconic already.

I mean gold and black is a nice combination. But ASIB poster is more gold on white, and imo it doesn’t really look great

I just hate the photoshopping so much. Peter Lindbergh is an authentic photographer, his pics shouldn't be edited AT ALL. They both look Uncanny Valley on all the different posters.

What bothers me the most about the posters is that Gaga's nose is much smaller than it really is.

to me:

Gold is associated with fame and success, so that makes sense.

The photo shows an intimate moment between the two, with music as a bonding force between them only.   The movie is not about concerts, it's about the relationship between Jack and Ally and how music brought them together.

Black and white also brings into play the mood of the movie, that there is a darkness underneath.

The original composition is solidly anchored with a strong diagonal and brings your eye straight to Jack and Ally.  This is enhanced with visual cues such as the out of focus hazy background.

So, while it may not be an "outstanding" movie poster, it does it's job quite well IMO.

I think it captures the film quite well. I would like to see Ally looking down at Jackson, instead of her looking up. Just an interesting idea to have them switch places, and is more relevant to the themes I think. We are so accustomed to the man being higher, instead of the man's head on her shoulder.

Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time.

Actually, the movie IS a love story. The rest is background, the music, the alcoholism, it’s all about their romance and how everything else influence them. So the poster is very right.

And the colour scheme makes the picture so much more clean.
