The majority of the tracks' sounds did not match what she had teased with GIAW, NTLTC and even TLIC. So therefor, it's not a "popular opinion" to hate on sweetener, it's just that a lot of people didn't like the album because there was only one song on it that sounded like its promo singles (aka Breathing).
