I consider myself a democratic socialist by the way. I'm just curious. Reddit is a terrible reference but: https://www.reddit.com/r/latestagecapitalism I also feel like Marx & Engels kind of had some accurate inclinations. Communism may not be the answer and everyone is still recovering from that C-word/red-scare. Other theorists discuss topics like "Anti-Intellectualism in American Life." There are too many factors to dive into on here. For my sociologist self, I feel as though we have limitless access to knowledge at our fingertips these days and many use it for selfies or narcissistic indulgences (I get it, I'm on a Gaga fansite -- she is as much a business woman as an advocate, artist, actress, musician, etc.) Some folks cling to anything that reifies their complacent self-importance (anti-vaccination folks, flat earthers, Nancy Pelosi saying "We're capitalists, that's just the way it is"). Additionally, look at what's happening with the monopoly of Amazon and what it's doing to competitors, for example. It seems as though we are isolating, centralizing, de-intellectual-izing and so forth. No one wants to disrupt the status quo or go in public spaces to resist anymore due to a need to survive or keep one's job (hence, T**mp's continuous 'wins') Symptoms of late stage capitalism, perhaps? I dunno -- not always articulate at these things -- just watching society unfold in its antics. Thanks for politely asking -- so many discussions on here get too heated.
