Well I guess DMG & Heal Me since it's the highest after all those songs already in the top 10 and not Bradley solo

I could see her doing the chart double in the UK again, as I can’t see people buying Andrea Bocelli more than ASIB in the latter half of the week.

Spotify didn't ruin anything, it's just the obvious step in the future with the new technologies we have.

We should be grateful we have a platform where we can listen to any song we want whenever we want.

You'd rather write about the decline of pop music in the US.

I would disagree that either of them ruined anything

In 2-3 years another subgenre will be ruling the charts. Remember how in 2011 the most popular pure rap songs would get to like #57 on the Hot 100?

Not that it ruined the music industry but that spotify is now very important in the music industry and you can't have huge hit without streaming being a factor. Back then, streaming wasn't a big deal. Sales were the main component and determined the position of the song on the Hot 100. Now, Gaga has the number one song on sales for weeks now and it's already dropped out of the top ten.

It's not to say that rap music hasn't always been big. It just seems bigger now because it's actually charting. Back before spotify and apple music, rap music was mainly downloaded illegally, causing those low peaks. Now, because of streaming, you don't have to pay for music. This is beneficial for the people that downloaded songs illegally back then because now it's not illegal. Rap songs are dominate.

So, yeah, streaming and rap music didn't ruin music per se. It's just that now that sales aren't as important as streaming and that, to me, is not fair for the songs that people pay money for.

Hot 100 is a chart that reflects songs that are... well, hot, not songs that people pay money for.

But millions of people DO pay for the music. Over 50 million people in the US pay for a subscription to either Apple Music or Spotify. Thats 15% of the country’s population. Even when sales were huge, #1 songs would sell like 400,000+ a week. Now theyre selling 30,000-50,000 a week.
