What about new immigrants that are legal and here to stay? What citizenship are the kids supposed to get as babies then? Their parents citizenship of a country they probably will never live in?

 

If it's people that took an extended vacation in a nation to have a baby, that's different, that I agree with removing

So I read up a bit more and while children born to non-citizens legally in the country probably won't be affected, SCOTUS could interpret it differently and claim that the "subject to its laws" part don't cover illegal immigrants (which is complete BS but you know Republicans)

The phrase is cited by the Supreme Court as one of two exceptions to birthright citizenship. Trump will claim no amendment is needed because illegals are alien enemies, and are in hostile occupation of our country. Pretty similar to how “enemy combatant” was used to strip Americans of other rights in the War on Terror.

Trump is going to brand this as a war, and try to start asserting war-like powers to justify stripping Americans of rights in the interest of national security.

No way this can happen. You can't touch the amendments. It should only be updated as the times change but never changed to worsen the lives of it's citizens.

These midterms are absolutely the most important midterm election period in my near 40 years on this earth. I've already voted. I firmly believe in January of 2021, Democrats will reign once more. It's just getting there that's the problem.

Hillary was correct in her last interview. The DEMOCRAT that will be our new President on that day will have a ton of heavy lifting to do.  In 2 years he has nearly destroyed everything....locked kids in cages, ruined relations with other nations, the list goes on.
