What does ASIB OST prove?

1.  The "GP" is way larger than just young pop fans or listeners to Top 40 radio.

2. Top 40 radio is stupid to always play stuff so monotonously similar fitting the formula du jour.   I think even younger pop oriented fans get tired of the monotony and would accept a wider variety of music.

3. Gaga is a talent for all ages, all demographics, all styles.

4. While "current" sounding music can provide big hits to certain demographics, more general types of instrumentation and production are essentially "timeless" and can be appreciated by many more people, and will likely sound just as "good" in 20 years as they do now.  There is a reason Adele was uber-successful, and even Amy Winehouse.  In fact, I'd venture to say that if ASIB had been done completely with modern R&B or Pop, it would be nowhere near as much of a critical success.   The music is relatable to a huge audience.

5. People like to hear quality songwriting that has meaning, interpreted by an excellent vocalist.

Now, I'm not saying that Gaga should completely chase a "timeless" sound, any more than I'd say she should intentionally chase "current" sounds either.   However, I do hope she continues on her current songwriting trends from both Joanne and ASIB, where songs have more depth and a certain amount of storytelling.   There is a reason most critics dislike the pop songs on ASIB.   That doesn't mean that every song needs to be a serious power ballad, but Gaga can certainly help elevate the level of songwriting that occurs in modern pop music, whichever style she decides to go with for her next album.  And I'm not denigrating Gaga's own early work either... Poker Face, Bad Romance, etc, have clever lyrics with room for interpretation, which is a large part of why she was so successful even over a dance pop base.  Besides which her brand of pop has always had an underlying rock attitude.

Hi DutchHooker :triggered:

No, leftists and liberals love ha too now. Love songs bring all people together. And we don't need hateful fans. Glad she keeps speaking up and driving them away.

We can have good suburban Christian moms but not social conservatives. Remind them of BTW every chance you get.

That Bradley Cooper is attractive even when he has greasy hair.

pushing away potential fans for their political views is dumb

being a conservative does not make you a bad person and being a liberal does not make you a good one. we don't need ignorant fans so i suggest rethinking that :triggered:

Not pushing away problematic people just so you can sell more is called selling out. There are things more important than sales.

Being a conservative doesn't make you a bad person and so I specified social. If you believe gays deserve to die or black people are all bad, yeah, you're a pretty bad person.

Gaga has always stood behind the messages and statements she's made throughout her career without fear of losing fans. Those who think gay, trans rights don't matter or that we shouldn't do anything about shootings can leave this fandom.

Also you gotta define ignorant. Doesn't make much sense when social conservatism is literally based in racism, misogyny, homophobia, and other forms of ignorance. Even more than ignorance, pure malice or selfishness at times.

Here's an idea: we can disagree and still love each other unless our disagreement is rooted in my oppression and your denial of my right to exist.

Does it need to prove something? Ok, it proves Bradley Cooper really can sing.

I guess it proves Gaga is evolving and plans on being around for awhile. After all she can't sing about disco sticks forever ;) She sounds amazing. It's obvious she is putting in the work. She is going to be remain relevant into the future because she is willing to explore and grow rather than settling on the same things she's already done. Not that any of it was bad. We wouldn't be here if that were the case. I'm excited for what's to come.

It proves that Gaga is every icon, as her own.. if that makes sense. The fact that she wanted the dialogues in the soundtrack is also great because she wanted us to feel that we are still watching the movie, by listening. A concept. Bradley is also very talented. Period. I think Gaga should do soundtracks in every future movies she will be on, if she likes it.
