SJAG 1,597
Hello everyone, today I'm not writing a controversial or unpopular opinion like I always do. Instead I'm gonna discuss about a particular scene in "A Star is Born". So.. the scene I'm referring to is at the very beginning of ASIB. The movie starts with Jack singing "Black Eyes" while the crowd is screaming and dancing. The scene immediately after the confusing and noisy concert is Jack getting in a car, sitting in the backseat while drunk. Here you hear nothing but slight background noises. The first two scenes are basically the opposites of each other, the first one being messy and overwhelming and the second being just calm and silence. This dramatic scene change is described by Lady Gaga, in the interview for Apple Music's Beats1, as "the best cinematic way of portraying fame". She also said she identifies with Jack as well as Ally. I found it very interesting because in her own documentary "GAGA: Five foot two" we see the same exact scene. She leaves the hotel she's staying in, and everyone is calling her and taking photos with her till she gets into the car and all of a sudden it's just silence. That really got me thinking a lot. The opening for ASIB is undoubtly a powerful representation of fame, but it's still acted, while in the documentary it's real, we are witnessing a reality, a tough one. I always think how much pressure Gaga has on and how hard being a star like her could be. I'm not making this thread a "GAGA: Five foot two" review, but I have to say I really liked it, I feel like it was a bit rushed though, I would have preferred if they filmed some behind the scene moments before other performances than the Super Bowl, and it would have been great having some Joanne World Tour footage, both BTS and on stage. Despite the fact that I feel the documentary was too much about the making of Joanne (which is probably why they stopped uploading the "Making JOANNE" episodes on YouTube) and being disappointed it not actually displayed the entire era but a small part of it, I really liked the fact that it got really intimate in Gaga's private life and addressed her health issues. It was cinematically great too, apart from the car scene, I loved the one in which they lift Gaga up for her SB performance. So, now it's time to hear YOUR opinions, let me know in the comments what you think about the ASIB scene and its similarity with Gaga's own documentary. LeJudas 6,490
I think it's true. Gaga said so herself. On the other hand, I would love that though, as an introvert I like interaction but too much makes me want to run away and hide. Knowing that all I have to do is just get in a car and leave to have that quiet would be very calming to me. Then again, I don't know how it feels because I'm a normal person. I guess I won't know until it happens to me but I congratulate her for being a good person about it and still being nice to fans
