Gaga talks to "suicidal" fan

Americano

Featured Posts

So many people treat Gaga like a suicide hotline.....As if she's just standing by waiting to talk fans out of suicide. She's a SINGER....and as much as I'm sure she loves and cares for her fans, its not her job to help them like that. She's already done more than enough to help them, with the message of BTW. Any further help should be done by a psychiatrist...

People don't always have a support system or even someone to reach out to when they're contemplating suicide.

Gaga could have easily dismissed the title "Mother Monster" instead of embracing it; you reap what you sow. :nacho:

If you don't find some of the comments in this thread or on his picture rude, then I really don't understand what your definition of the term rude are. Regardless if this particular person wanted to kill himself or not, when people publicly spew vile comments about suicide, depression, etc. others who may be going through those things may read it and feel like they are even more worthless. I don't think anyone in this discussion is denying that he wants attention, but wanting attention is a red-flag in itself. I think you've misunderstood me because I do not think Gaga should intervene, but I think those who choose to comment on the matter should be respectful. If you think he's being stupid and has a hidden agenda with his suicide threats, fine. But why comment and bully the person further if that could actually drive them into doing the exact thing they had joked about (or someone else witnessing the conversation)?

Exactly my point. That picture was vile and no one was denying that, jokes and snide remarks made about suicide are vile and the thing with suicide and depression is you don't know who has it, so why did he post it. Yes hands up, some comments in here are disrespectful and nasty, but you're saying this photo wasn't? If so then that's pretty delusion, yes comments in here can push someone over the edge and so can a photo like that. I guarantee you more than one person in this thread has suffered real depression and that's why some of these comments are seen as rude because they are written out with frustration, frustration because photos like this are going on the internet which are very likely made to look for attention from a celebrity, the fact that as soon as Gaga commented it was deleted and he went on chat to her fans doesn't add up and obviously I don't know what is going on in his mind but whatever it is he needs to be careful not only for himself but for Gaga and everyone else. Personally I don't think i'm victimizing or bullying this boy, I'm stating my true honest opinion and it may come across harsh and nasty but a lot of opinions are and I maybe delusion with my opinion but this is after all my opinion.

Even if this is (a particularly desperate) attention-seeking maneuver, it still should be treated with some compassion. Lots of "suicidal" people make such threats in order to draw attention, and even if they don't genuinely want to bring harm to themselves, it still typically indicates a real depression, a real need for help. Anybody that would do this clearly needs to talk to somebody. Both about the things depressing them, and about their methods of coping.

Completely agree with this. Even if his goal was to get her attention, to think the best way to get it was by portraying such self-harm - that can only mean that this person is not in the right place. They have serious issues. Even if he is brushing it off now, I hope he has someone to talk to.

I do hope that this doesn't produce copycats.

Well, although I strongly dissaprove of his method of reaching out I do pity him. Maybe he feels GaGa's the only one he can trust but doesn't realize that she is not a therapist and she may not have an idea how to handle such a case. Now if the press gets a hold of this, ooh won't there be a field day! And worse if he really does do it people are going to point at GaGa and blame her for it and that's not right, she can't help them if she can't, that's just the way it is.

:usrs: Have you even seen some of the things some people on here say about her? How they criticize her and write about what they think she should do instead of what she does? She would probably get really sad seeing some of it I bet. I could understand why she wouldn't, but I think she lurks around at times. It's one thing when her haters do it but when her actual fans do it or rather people who say they're her fans, I'm sure it hurts her and makes her feel like she isn't doing good enough.

Ugh. The nerve of some people. Attention seeking i just read a comment on his newest photo:

I'm sorry. I really got to think about killing myself. I will not post more

Listen, I agree with you that he should recieve some compassion, but I'm just saying that a lot of people disagree because they write him off as attention seeking and don't ask themselves why they're that way, and genuinely don't care. "Anybody that would do this clearly needs to talk to somebody" Not really, some people are just desperate for Gagz's attention

Yes, and if you're so desperate for Gaga's attention that you fake a suicide threat on her personal social network, knowing full well the discourse surrounding her and issues of self-esteem, bullying, and suicide, I think that's clearly indicative that your infatuation with her (or with celebrity, or attention in general, etc.) is entering troubling territory, and is indicative of somebody that could still probably benefit from seeking some counseling.

See, I disagree, I think sometimes people really just want gaga to notice them.

Oh, I do, too. In fact, if I had to take a guess, I'd imagine that that's what this is. Seems more likely to me (though I don't want to entirely discount the possibility that it could have been a genuine suicide threat). All I'm saying is that there's a lot people, A LOT of people who would really like for Gaga to notice them or somehow personally acknowledge them (hell, I'm one of them!), but if this is what you decide is the best course of action for that...there's something wrong.
