The President is not supposed to comment on this as former Fed Chairwoman Janet Yellen pointed out The Federal Reserve has been slammed on grounds that inflation is not high and so the economy is not overheating. The Fed explained that inflation is not their only concern in an overheating economy. They are worried about leverage, debt levels and excess in some segments of the economy such as asset prices and that higher rates are needed to put it in check Powell suggested that although they estimate the neutral rate for the economy is 3%, a rate above neutral may be needed for a period of time.
