Drumpf gets the thing done and this comes from a person that supported Hillary. He's getting back jobs and the economy is booming. He also managed to talk with North Korean president ffs and made very profitable trade deals. Some of you need to get realistic :vegas:

The economy is doing well because of Obama's policies. Pretty much every economist has said this and added that Trump's policies threaten us with another major recession (Here is a good link for reading up on this). The economy is not some sudden turn president to president. It works in the long-term which means the actions of one president's administration often do not truly come to fruition until the next one or the end of their own presidency. People blamed Obama for a sluggish economy but for the love of God it was Bush (or should I say Cheney) that put us there in the first place. It takes time for momentum to grow again, maybe even a whole 8 years. So Trump taking credit for the economy is like him taking credit for writing The Art of The Deal when we all know he didn't as the author is widely known.

The job growth is also not wholly accurate and wildly uneven so there's really not much to unpack there, but I'll provide a link that does for your reading pleasure. North Korea talks...why is that good, exactly? What really came out of it? Nothing. He goaded him like a child and then nothing even came of it. Also, the detente of sorts can be much more largely attributed to South Korea's leader Moon Jae-In who has done the most by providing an olive branch of sorts to NK and discussions with them.

Now the trade deals. Where is the profit? Literally no one is profiting from them, not consumers, not businesses. In fact, in terms of raw material, all of these tariffs and trade wars are making it even harder and more expensive for many industries to operate. And in doing all of this Trump has thoroughly pissed off every single ally we have. One real shining silver lining of his trade policy is that it has made Europe become a more unified force and mostly neutered Brexit (or at least is heading that way). In terms of the U.S., though, no, Trump's policies fly in the face of every single expert who have time and again reiterated this. Just because Trump says he's doing good doesn't mean he is. I could say I take my craps in a gold toilet and that doesn't mean it's true. Trump is a masterful liar and that's truthfully the only legitimately profitable skill he has. The only thing he has done is try to eliminate the legacy of Obama. That's literally it because he's too dim-witted to actually have a handle on the intricacies of political policy.

If you have the opportunity to vote, please do so. And get your friends and family to do the same.

It’s never been an incredible environment for minorities, but it’s getting so much worse. The vote is the first line.

3 points in and ready for more

Maybe I'm delusional, but I think that a lot of women who either voted for Trump after voting for Obama or didn't vote at all saw how horrifying the Kavanaugh thing was and will come out to vote for Democrats.  I am thoroughly disgusted with ND and GA in how they are trying to rig the votes in favor of Republicans.

Get to the polls, people. If you live in the US, and you aren't voting, you're part of the problem.

Honey, people have the right not to vote.

But that means you don’t have the right to complain if the party you didn’t want gets in to power.

In my messy era.

I’m as liberal as can be yet can agree that both parties can be extreme with their distaste for one another.

That being said, I’ve noticed that Republicans do not like to admit they’re wrong. They scoff at any ounce of criticism aimed at their party and they ALWAYS defend Trump. Democrats used to question some of Obama’s logic while he was in office. Plenty of Democrats, including myself, called out Hilary’s bs even though we supported her. Typical Trump supporters never want to admit he has done anything questionable. It’s kinda sad really, either they do not want to admit he’s done something working or that they just are oblivious to it all.

The economy was going to improve regardless. Unemployment was going to go down regardless. Let’s be realistic, these aren’t Republican achievements. Immigration should definitely not be handled by separating families and putting 2 year old toddlers in front of a judge and if you truly support that sort of atrocity, I want to give you a really big hug and try and bring some compassion into your life.

What matters to me is social and environmental issues. Republicans are typically okay with discrimination and inequality and hide behind the Bible to justify their disgusting bigotry.

Yup. Anyone who is not happy with the status quo should vote to change. But those who are happy or does not care should not need to be pressured to vote.

In the midst of all the good news about ASIB, I think we shouldn't forget about November 6th and what it means for the LGBT community and liberals in general. We are in trouble. The Kavanaugh hearing has strongly energized republicans (I don't get it? They get their nominee accused of rape confirmed through the senate, yet they're still angry and energized? when it's democrats who should be appalled and energized).

Nevada where I live used to be lean-democrat in the polls, now it looks like republicans are going to win it big after the kavanaugh hearing. Same thing with Arizona etc...

https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2018/senate/2018_elections_senate_map_no_toss_ups.html

It looks like republicans will actually make gains, and probably in the house too. I was hoping for the senate to be a tie or for democrats to take over, but that's very unlikely to happen now. This only means that Trump will continue to appoint both conservative federal judges and supreme court judges. LGBT rights are doomed for a long time as far as lawsuits are concerned. In-before, it becomes legal again to deny LGBT people service.

If you can vote, please don't forget about voting really! This is one of the most important elections of our lifetime. The senate is the most important part of the government (even more important than the presidency imo).

No offense at all but you really have no idea WHY the whole Kavanagh thing boosted republicans and their support? Really? Nothing about that fiasco made you think "oh yeah, I can see some people thinking this way..."?

I don't wanna repeat myself. But assuming you are one of the people who think Mr. Kavanaugh was the victim, let me repeat few points:

1. Corroboration and eye-witnesses are hard to get in sexual assault cases because the nature of this crime implies that it takes place in the most intimate/darkest places, where there usually are no eye-witnesses. And eye-witnesses who do nothing are considered complicit and will avoid confirming that it happened because it endangers them. So asking Dr. Ford for witnesses and corroboration is ridiculous. She told her therapist and her friends years before his nomination.

2. Fox News and their pundits keep screaming "innocent until proven guilty", "due process"... These beautiful words don't belong in this case. These are legal standards set by the constitution for cases where there is deprivation of liberty, property or life. If your boss is firing you based on suspicion of wrongdoing, you can't scream "innocent until proven guilty" lol.

Supreme Court Nomination is a job promotion, not a trial. Thus all Senate has to do, is assess whether the allegations are credible and whether they are a political hit job. Dr. Ford sent a letter to her congresswoman BEFORE Kavanaugh was even chosen, and told her therapist about it years before. So this rules out the "political hit job" part. As far as credibility is concerned, both republicans and democrats deemed her "credible" in their own words.

At this point the nomination should've stopped. But republicans applied trial standards instead, basically asking for corroboration and eye-witnesses so that this can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

3. Kavanaugh had drinking issues. In his own words he said "sometimes I drank too much, other times others drank too much". To me the nomination should've stopped there. If he drank too much, there's always a possibility that he might not remember certain things that happened, especially when the person making the accusation is found credible.

4. He's excessively partisan as republican senator Lisa Murkowski pointed out. His rhetoric "revenge on behalf of the clintons. And democrats questions on the committee were embarassing" should've disqualified him right away. Below is another example of bad temperament

Our country is literally on the brink of one o the most consequential moments, if people don' turn out to vote, they are gonna have to worry about more than their freedom to be apathetic to the system.

So because its not a trail, anything goes? No proof is required for a claim to be "credible"? The definition of credible is something that can be proven and demonstrated. Its so scary you think like this. Actually, youre boss CANT fire you with a random accusation and no proof. Where did you hear that?

Also, accusing someone of being a horrible gang rapist most certainly affects their life beyond job prospects. You cannot lightly accuse someone of gang rape, fail to produce evidence, then say oh its alright it wasnt a real trial. Like how do you live a life until this moment that made you believe anything that was done to Kavanaugh was ok? Just how?

So according to you, outside of a trial, anyone can come say anything regarding your character and thats OK, and should be treated as the truth? So if someone called your employer and spread horrible rumours and then your boss used another reason to fire you that would be alright? No, of course youd sue then in a civil suit in a court of law after that. There is no magical bubble outside of a trial where any accusation is OK to make.

If these allegations were made against Kavanaugh in ANY employment environment, he would've been fired yes. You know why? Because all what his employer would have to check is whether the allegations are credible. And Dr. Ford was deemed credible by BOTH political parties. Even Trump said her testimony was "credible and compelling".

I didn't say "spread horrible rumors". I said if credible allegations are made against you, then yes you'll probably lose your job, which is normal. Losing job isn't going to jail. Trial standards "innocent until proven guilty" don't apply there. And most employers don't want to take the risk with keeping someone accused of sexual assault in their work environment. They won't fire you based on rumors, but if allegations are credible as Dr. Ford's emerge, then yes you'd be fired and rightly so.
