However it is worth noting that several films have had multiple nominations for Best Original Song. Fame, Flashdance, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Philadelphia, The Lion King, Slumdog Millionaire, La La Land all had two or more nominations and they all won the category. Yentl, Footloose, The Bodyguard, Dreamgirls and The Princess and the Frog are the only films that received multiple nominations that didn't win in their given year. So actually, I wouldn't say it necessarily harms or helps the chances if there was more than one nomination since most films that got more than one nom ended up taking it home...
