I know where I stand on this topic, but I've recently seen some LMs on Twitter and Instagram saying that JWT was a fail.

I can agree with them in the sense that the tour was messy. Montreal got postponed, RIR was cancelled, the Euro leg was postponed to this year, then got through 8 dates and then was cancelled. No disrespect to Gaga, because her condition is serious and needed to be treated with care at that moment in time. But while it was necessary to cancel/postpone shows, you can't deny it was a mess. :trollga:

However if you look at the tour from the aspect of commercial success, it crushed other tours *cough cough* Witness Tour :ohwell:. Only 49 dates generated $94.9 million in gross revenue and every date sold out. Compared to Katy's 111 dates spawning only $76 million with many dates having over 1,000 open seats.:ladyhaha:.

And we can't forget the amazing reviews the tour got. Almost every critic loved the show, and recommended people to see her live. One of the only negative things I saw written about the tour was that sometimes Gaga's dancing wasn't up to par (true :bon:).

Do you think JWT was messy and a failure? Or do you think it was one of the best tours ever?

Wasn't it selling out almost everywhere?? Don't listen to twitter stans. They'll call Gaga a flop and a fad and in the same breathe say Carly Rae Jepsen is the queen of pop.

Carly Rae deserves her place in the gay-pop hierarchy, though :ladyhaha: queen is definitely too much

OT: It seemed to be successful by all accounts to me.

Every single show was sold out and it had a very high profit per show... so, it was not a failure by any stretch of the imagination.

Separately, it had great critic reviews.

Please elaborate

First, the cancellation/postponement mess (I'm not blaming Gaga)

Second, they said there would be new songs performed at the show... nothing new performed

Third, no Asia/South America dates, not even one

Yes!! and I'd say it was the best Lady Gaga tour from a non-stan point of view. It had nice choreo, pyro, cool stage, flying catwalks, it seemed very simple and enjoyable (not complex like BTWBT) and the overall energy looked amazing. So it makes sense I guess part of the purpose of Joanne era and the tour was to reach different people, from different ages and musical taste.

If Gaga’s condition was better it could’ve became her biggest tour because of the potential for more and more dates. The US could’ve had a stadium run and dates in Asia, Brazil, Argentina, and Oceania would’ve sold out

Yes, it was successful and an incredible show. It blended the campiness of previous Gaga tours with the Joanne emotional side and no way the show was messy. The only thing to improve was the opening tbh

Yes, but it was messy

Couldve been a lot bigger if she went full stadiums, which she should start doing

I wasn't saying the show was a mess. I was saying that the overall tour was a mess. Multiple postponements, cancellations, etc. It was definitely one of her best tours, but due to her condition (which I realize is out of her and everyone else's control), the tour took a hit.
