What's your mother tongue? If it's English it confirms the fact that they don't have good diction. If not well we're just bad in English :air:

and tbh it really is humming :rip:

Did you notice that much as I love her , her pronunciation of some of the Piaf words was slurred or inaccurate? Bouche (mouth) is not "blouch"

The definition of what Bradley was doing was mumbling. Basically speaking so low we cant hear him as well. he also has a midwestern accent because he is mimicking Elliot so that they sound as if they came from the same family.

So I wanted to know: am I bad in English or is their diction real bad? For real though, they barely moved their mouth. But maybe I'm just bad. So what's the matter with that? Maybe I'm just not used to the southern accent they're taking. I don't know. Enlighten me plz

They are speaking with a midwestern accent. You are not bad in English.

On top of being softspoken

On top of being under the influence or drunk

on top of being mumbled at a low volume

all of this combines to be "murfle spoof luff da qweoyweouryqwehdlkncvz/xkgfgihjdfg"

instead of words, especially if English dialects arent your native toungue. not your fault.

Yes her mistakes during the first verse almost seemed calculated!

She says "baisser" as "baiser" (kinda bae-sé instead of bae-zé, which turns "lower" (the verb) into "f*cking"), then "blouche" instead of "bouche", "rétouche" instead of "retouche", "appartriens" instead of "appartiens". It's so cute!! I love it when foreigners try to speak my language (French) because nothing's cuter than someone trying hard to speak a language.

The first time she ever sang La VIe En Rose where it was fully recorded was at my Hollywood Bowl show in .... 2014 I think. She did the same mistakes there if I recall correctly. I would play it for you but about 3 weeks ago I got a strike on my SoundCloud for having that recording up. I remember calling @Zilla or texting her and saying "SHES REHEARSING PIAF OMFG" so I guess BMG finally got around to burning me on that recording.

Anyway yes, i am reminded fondly of the reverse -- at the Carnegie Hall 1957 Piaf concerts, she sang the English songs from stacks of annotated sheet music and tranlastions ( i have all those recordings in mp3 now) and it was charming to hear her French accent dress the English words.

Offtopic: I am fully in mourning for your loss of Charles Azanavour last week, a heavy heart for his loss. I saw him in Studio City several years ago -- perfection.

Thanks! I'm not actually French - I'm from Quebec, so Charles Aznavour's death is not really "my" loss (country-wise) but Iove him so much, I can't believe he's dead. I've never seen him live and I'm sad.

Also I found it, it was 2015, this was the first time shed performed it live.

I have recorded every live show I've ever been to since 2012. I'll have it somewhere.

Yes. She's literally saying that the eyes of the one she's singing about are making her own f*ck. "Baiser" as a a noun means "kiss". But here, it's a verb. And "baiser" as a verb, while it CAN mean "to kiss", usually means in common language "to f*ck".

Watching a live recording is never the same as watching live - but thanks for putting such effort in, you're awesome!

mind = blown

she can't not have known this.

though your literal translation has me wondering if she's implying masturbation or just being excited at the concept
