Could the ASIB Soundtrack Redefine Gaga?

REALITY

I've been having this question for quite some time, but I wanted to wait on it until I watched the movie. The title of this thread might be a little convoluted and vague, but what I'm basically asking is if Gaga could get a hit song from ASIB that are the likes of I Will Always Love You or My Heart Will Go On. I realize that that would be extremely difficult to do, but is it possible? I mean, The Bodyguard wasn't necessarily a critically acclaimed movie, but the soundtrack did amazingly well. It gave Whitney her signature song, even though at that point she was well versed in her career. Titanic, on the other hand, was much more critically acclaimed (at least according to the Rotten Tomatoes score), and once again, it gave Celine Dion arguably her most popular song.

At this point in her career, you might think it's absolutely ridiculous that Gaga could top something (commercial wise) as the likes of Bad Romance, Poker Face, or Just Dance. However, Gaga, over the recent years has changed her image into something much more mature and "classy," and because of that (and other reasons) that I think it's not too far-fetched to think that she could accomplish something like this.

The songs, particularly the ballads, which is what I'm mainly talking about, are powerful, raw, emotional, and fit a certain "aesthetic" that to me, just scream a mega hit potential the likes of I Will Always Love You and My Heart Will Go On. What I mean by that last part is that the songs (especially I'll Never Love Again) have this certain ambiance and feeling that "Yeah, this is gonna be a classic song for the ages."

But I don't know, do you think it's realistic for her to get a potential mega hit from this soundtrack? And if so, which song do you think could do it?

And before anyone says it, because I'm sure someone will, I'm not one of those people that examines the charts with a fine-tooth comb. I'm merely asking if one of these songs has the potential of becoming something iconic and legendary.

It's only sometimes that a song with real talent and raw emotion becomes a hit but it's not impossible, if they play their cards right any one of the ballads could potentially be a hit, the shallow already looks like it may be going viral with the way it's views on YouTube are rising, it all just depends on what the longevity of this movie ends up being like and if radios pick up any of the songs...

Shallow looks like it will be a big hit in the uk. Number 1 on itunes, its climbed to 23 on spotify here. it could get top 5 by friday :diane: in which case it could be her first top 5 since applause. The music on this soundtrack is awesome and great music does well. So i wouldnt be surprised with whatever success.

Shallow is number 3 in the official UK chart as of today. I think it will be number 1 next week.

To answer the op's question, I think I'll Never Love Again has the potential to be the big song. But the whole soundtrack is pretty solid in that there are so many strong tracks. It wouldn't surprise me if as time goes on and more people watch, we find that she has 5 songs in the top ten (all charts).

Even if none of the songs reach as high as we expect, these songs are going to be popular forever because the film is that good.

I'll Never Love Again is THAT song. They need to promote it a lot, especially in January and February. Iconic Oscar and Grammy performances are needed, as well as in European and other countries TV shows

tbh I think I'll Never Love Again has that potential too. Don't get me wrong, I love Shallow, but it just doesn't feel like that song to me...

INLA is too long so they really need to make a radio edit and sum it up to 3:30 min, I think ARUTW is the good choice because it's in between a ballad and a soft pop catchy song

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

i still havent listened to all the soundtrack but i think “is that alright?” can become a hit based on all the youtube comments in the official audio video.

If you don’t have any shadows, you’re not standing in the light.
