Dutch 91,381
So, I was watching A Star Is Born last night and I think most people totally missed this. I probably would too if my sisters didn't tell me her theory. Spoiler Somewhere in the movie Bobby (Jackson his brother) says something about Jackson his voice. Like Jackson stole his voice. My sister made a theory about this. You see a shot where Jackson gets an injection of hormones. This might be male hormones, so testosterone. And the effect of testosterone is that it will make your voice lower. Since Bobby has a real low voice, Jackson might literally stole his voice by making his voice lower with those injections. In the end when Bradley is sober, not drinking alcohol, no taking pills and not getting injections, he is singing I'll Never Love Again and his voice is higher again. So is this theory the truth and do people notice/understand it?
Earthling 3,692
It's a really fascinating theory! Is that a heard of practise though for male singers? Idk but Bradley said in interviews that he spent like 4 months with a voice coach to mimic Sam Elliott's voice before Sam was even cast so maybe he was so adament on casting Sam becuase he had that exact detail of the subplot in mind. Ugh his mind *she switched baristas. ☕️
melon 3,590
I took it as literally just imitating the deep tones of Bobby and the sound that his brother had already established BIT OF A SPOILER Spoiler Feel like this was also confirmed when he told Bobby that he looked up to him / imitated him because he was his role model show me to me please
NotNightwing 1,677
I'm pretty sure some of the physical effects of exogenous testosterone are permanent. Stuff like muscle mass can obviously be lost but how deep your voice is depends on your vocal chords. I don't think they would return to their original condition even after stopping testosterone. Maybe it’s just how it is and not that deep, I’m a mess. 6 minutes ago, Deku said: I'm pretty sure some of the physical effects of exogenous testosterone are permanent. True. Didn’t think about that. Thanks!
Regina George 59,387
Yes but when man uses steroids it doesn’t really change his voice because vocal cords are already used to testosterone and it’s not like when female takes them. Also I think he meant it in a way that he “stole” his singing style, music (in a way), career.. And it’s proven at the end when he told Bobby that he was his idol all that time and that he always looked up to him..
