WOW that's far beyond my own imagination and previous estimation(30M+)!

The fact that It's probably gonna gain over 40M+ really amazed me.:legend:

The more accurate estimation of box office from "BoxOffice Pro" will be released on Friday. Stay tuned.

Remember when Gaga was someone who's tagged with "flopping star".:ladyhaha:............

Last I heard it was $44mm. Good to see that it'll hopefully go up.

This isn't really a flop for one of the box office's weakest months and for a Rated R film

Ok I wasn't alive at the time, so I don't really have good context, but how did that **** flop. That's exquisite disaster ****-love story blockbuster at its finest. Ugh we stan

$48M would make put ASIB in the top 30 opening weekend for an R-rated film. That's incredibly impressive.

It did only 28$mil the first week, it was treated like a flop, they spent only 20$mil on a minimal promo, they literally relied on the market outside the US.. Paramount invested only 60$mil on it because they didn't want to take the risk... in some sense this is why they gave Cameron an artistic freedom, so they just let him do this 3 hours movie, when knowingly that nobody is here to stay 3 hours at the cinema..

At the 2nd week there was this big surprise, full theaters, cinemas had to reschedule their calendar and too add more screenings.. was crazy..

Lol. What a strange comparison!

There was even no Internet/Twitter/Social media sites at that time. :ladyhaha:You should bring a more recent case than one from last decade.

Hmm IMDB, news and entertainment websites and forums existed in 97 lol

i had ADSL and already downloaded music and game boy color emulators

I couldn’t give any other movie because there was no movie that started with a low first week and then became a huge success..

And it’s not about a floo or to compare, it’s to show that we the movie can achieve an amazing success after the first week.

Titanic was the most expensive film of its time, costing the studio $200m to produce. But you are right that the studio and Cameron expected the film to flop. It still topped the chart in the first weekend though, i think films were generally not as frontloaded then as they are now. Ticket prices were also cheaper in 97

It’s difficult to understand the phenomenon of Titanic unless you’ve experienced it. The phenomena has never been recreated since. People were watching the film multiple times, Celine’s song exploded on radio. It was insane.
