I'm actually wondering if that Venable doesn't come back, is she still considered a lead actress? Like when she submits her roles for Emmy consideration, is she submitting three supporting performances? But she's still present throughout the whole show tho.

If Cordelia gets to stay during the episodes left she'd probably be considered a main character?

I think she confirmed Venable is dead for good.. which is kinda sad because that character seemed so dark and mysterious and I feel we should have seen more of her

anyway, when Jessica left the show everyone started saying nonsense like "She's the lead actress of the show, without her AHS doesn't even exists" and I've always felt that was a bunch of bullshit because Sarah is the one who has been carrying the show on her back since Asylum. She's such a versatile and unbelievable (in a good way) actress and her devotion to this show is really incredible.

It may be impossible to love AHS and NOT love some Paulson.  She has a ton of classic characters. I always say I loathe her scream tho. But she works it out.

AHS to me is like a cold taco.  It couldve been better but it was still rather delicious.

I actually don't like the idea of one single character carrying the whole show, it's a combination of efforts from the entire main cast, writers and directors.

In fact I think Jessica made the right choice for leaving. I recently rewatched all past AHS seasons and honestly by the fourth season, you get tired of Lange. Don't get me wrong, she's amazingly talented, obviously brought AHS to life, but there are many similarities between all of her roles. If she did all eight seasons, people would say she's doing the same thing over and over again.

I think it's wise for Ryan to keep his actors in rotation by keeping some actors and then having some go on a break and then inviting some back again. I'm glad Jessica is absent in Hotel, Roanoke and Cult because it means more screentime for other people.

Maybe but I don't think Cordelia will get Sarah an Emmy nomination, because it's already been portrayed before. I think Venable might be brought back since that's a fresh new role that Sarah could challenge and is more favourable in terms of helping her get award recognition.

I suppose you meant to type "actor" but yeah that's not necessarily what I meant. What I was trying to say is that If someone were to ask me "who is the face of AHS" I would say Sarah Paulson without even thinking for a second.

and this is also part of the reasoning why I said Sarah "carries the show".. Jessica is obviously a very talented actress but I think she always played it safe (at least in AHS). And that might not even be her fault considering Ryan/the writers could have realized how great she was as Constance and decided to give her characters along those lines for the following seasons with the intention or "recreating the magic" (which I believe they did especially with Fiona). Sarah has played a vast variety of characters all different from each other and all challenging in their own way. She never played it safe and she constantly delivered great performances. Evan is right behind her in terms of versatility but his characters are (sadly) very often underwritten or just underused which is a bummer.

Anyway, I agree that this show is as big and exciting as it is because of a large group of people and not just thanks to one or two great actors/actresses. I just like how Sarah is always super involved in the show and how much hard work she puts in her characters even if they only have a 3-episodes-arc.

She's so charming. I definitely think she should probably try to move beyond Ryan and his numerous productions. Though she'll probably be loyal to him forever by giving her these great roles. It's just that her & Ryan are kind of going into their own Johnny Depp & Tim Burton territory of stale at this point.
