So does Gaga's statement mean its real or fake fur? I sincerely hope it fake.

Technically, she's refusing to answer that. You could interpret it in at least two ways --

1. It's fake, but she prefers to keep the controversy going.

2. It's real, and she has no actual defense for going against what she'd previously said about fur, so she's just going to deflect it.

"Breaking all the rules I made about fame"

This isn't a rule about fame, though -- this is a moral question. "Rules about fame" are things like always wearing heels, never talking about her love life -- silly stuff to get worked up about.

Now, I think Gaga's morality is pretty solid; she's always cared more about human welfare than the animal kind, and she still does, AFAICT. She's never pretended to be a vegetarian or anything. Still, it's a valid issue. Unlike people going crazy over her wearing flats, or befriending Lindsay Lohan.

Listen, I'm not gonna pretend like I'm some saint: I eat ****ty fast-food that comes from companies that have terrible policies in terms of the treatment of the animals that they cultivate for their product. Not proud of it, just airing my ****. But how, how, does it make someone an idiot to actually want to investigate those sorts of things? How does it make someone an idiot to actually examine the ethics of the modes of production employed to create the commercial products that we consume? Quite the opposite: the people at least questioning this are demonstrating a willingness to think critically about the world around them.

It doesn't. But thats not what people here are doing. What they're doing is dramatically and probably ingenuinely denouncing Gaga and declaring her an ignorant over something that has no real effect on her music or who she is as a person.

a google search seems to show that High Pile is a Chinese brand of FAUX fur, for all you b---hing about it.

now it seems that Gaga's response was her way of saying.. "Do your research!"

you are right, high pile fur is fake fur on google...

Well let's see if she has enough balls to say that to Ellen's face when it's time to promote on her show. Somehow I doubt she will.

I wish I could cut out your brain and stick it in my head. Your posts are always so smart and level headed. I'm jealous.

Well, it doesn't so much have an effect on who she is as a person, but it is one manner of reflection of who she is. To wear it or not wear it is a decision she must actively make, and with it comes certain implications. At the very least, it demonstrates either ignorance of the way the fur industry operates or a complicit acceptance of it. Just like my consumption of fast food comes with (an admittedly regrettable) complicit acceptance on my part.
