My thoughts after seeing A Star is Born last night

So I was lucky enough to win tickets to an advance screening last night :sharon: So I've had a full 24 hours to process the amazing film I got to witness last night

I'll be honest and admit that I actually had zero faith in this film when I heard Gaga was on board :stalkga: Obviously after seeing the first trailer I took it all back

Anyways, I'm not here to give any spoilers unless you specifically ask me any questions, I'll gladly answer them!

Here are some of my opinions on the movie:

-My favourite songs were: Always Remember Us This Way, Is That Alright? and I'll Never Love Again
-I'll Never Love Again is such a POWER BALLAD  the entire theatre was sobbing when Gaga performed this song. It just moves you to tears. The way the song progresses will leave you all BALD.
-Surprisingly, the first hour of the movie was really light hearted and there some quite funny scenes. The audience was constantly laughing including me obvi :ladyhaha: Ally is quite sarcastic
-In my opinion, the pop songs are the
weakest, the ballads are what TRULY shine.
-The outfits that Gaga wears when she transforms into a pop star are sickening

Spoiler

and the choreo on SNL left me SHOOK

-Gaga's acting comes across as totally NATURAL. She was made for this role and she's proven that she can act.
-Gaga and Bradley's chemistry is impeccable. Ugh they're so cute
-One thing I couldn't figure out was if Hair Body Face was in the movie, I don't think it is but I could be completely wrong.
-Shangela was absolutely hilarious
-Ally's transformation into a pop stars was one of the highlights of the movie, it really felt like I was watching Gaga herself transform.

Feel free to ask any questions, I'll put spoilers in a spoiler :kara:

really made me sad :ohno: I think (more than) enough people already don't believe in Gaga and what she can do, so seeing and feeling that kind of energy from the people who are supposed to support her really is just... something sad.

Anyway, I wouldn't ask any questions since I really want my viewing experience to be as blank as possible! But the points you made are points. Excited!

Oh I didn't doubt Gaga herself, it was the film. Idk I just had this horrible feeling that the public wouldn't like it that much and that it would tank :cryga:

Congratulations for screening the film early! :vegas:

Is Shallow as disappointing as some people are claiming here? :trollga: Why was it (along with INLA) cited the most in reviews?

I dont understand why people are disappointed with Shallow. It's a fantastic song, and seeing them perform it in the movie sent chills through my body. There's so much passion between Gaga and Bradley. I think this song is cited often simply because it's the one that was placed in the trailer. However, INLA is much much better. The trailer made it seem like Shallow would possibly be a power ballad when its not and I think that may be why fans are disappointed?

Hair Body Face plays in the background of a choreo scene when Gaga talks to Bradley in a scene!

When Ally sang Shallow with that JWT stage, did she sing it full?

Spoiler

Nope, not in full, but this scene is great since I had no idea it was done using the JWT stage!

Tell us about the end, please.

Spoiler

The ending is depressing as hell. You will 100% need tissues. Ally is at her high point and her life is essentially destroyed because of what Bradley does. Did you want me to explain what happens? Or just my thoughts on it?

It would be nice if you explained what happens. Then I won't be disappointed after the movie. :ohno:

Judas is coming, let the cultural baptism begin.

Spoiler

Bradley commits suicide by hanging himself. I believe he decided to do this as a result that he saw he was only bringing Ally down because of his drug and alcohol addiction. The ending of the movie shows Ally extremely sad, crying, getting angry and finally she performs I'll Never Love Again, which was written by Jack, as a tribute to him. And the movie ends like that.
