I just don’t understand how Judas “ruined” Gaga’s relationship with radio. Throughout history, artists have made controversial songs and they still continued to have success after that. Also, how’s Judas controversial?

The song is about Judas, the biblical disciple of Jesus, is considered the greatest sinner of all time because of what he did to Jesus. Not to mention the video was released on Easter Day, the so called day when Jesus resurrected himself.

I guess I don’t see nothing controversial about it since I’m an atheist.

You know this is just my opinion, right?

TEOG, Applause and DWUW had great run on radios tbh...

Joanne was just not radio friendly... And The Cure wasn't made to be promoted...

LG6 will be the test to know if she still has that radio power

Yeah, I remember hearing all of these on the radio.  I even heard Perfect Illusion a few times.

I heard it quite a lot but I'm from the U.K.

I honestly heard DWUW a lot more on the radio than GUY, The Cure, PI and MR combined...

Perfect Illusion ruined her relationship with radio. They all were willing to give her a chance and it was a huge disappointment for most. Now I doubt her lead singles will be significantly played by radio unless they gain serious streaming power on their own first.

ASIB has a chance of having that viral power enough to drive a single to radio but we'll have to wait and see.

I don't think I ever heard Judas on radio, but The Edge of Glory, You and I, Applause and Million Reasons I heard very frequently.

I heard The Cure a lot from its release up until even earlier this year like May on top 40 and pop stations.  Million Reasons is still played moderately, it plays more on adult contemporary hits stations (Like 106.7 my New Yorkers), ones that rotate hits from the 80s until now.  I actually just heard Born This Way this morning.

I really think it ruined not only her relationship with radio but it affected her whole career, she's only getting rid of it now. Born This Way was huge, but there was a lot of people annoyed already by the religious references on TFM, Alejandro and all the 'Gaga is illuminati' thing. Releasing Judas on Easter was a big mistake too, and after the video it was even worse.

If the BTW era went down like this:

1. Born This Way

2. The Edge of Glory

3. You and I

4. Hair

5. Marry The Night

We would be in a completely different place.
