Joanne era made the unexpected expected. She was ''crazy'' during the whole The Fame - ARTPOP era and she did everything (from the meat dress, Paparazzi bleeding performance, the meat dress to puked performance and flying dress). The only thing unexpected at that point was to do something conventional. And now that pure Crazy Gaga moments are rather rare, it will be easier for the GP to embrace them. I agree with the user that said that she ound the right balance to keep both GP and fans satisfied.

I think that there's a hidden need amongst the GP for someone to shook thing up in pop. Hopefully Gaga does that.

because nothing says GP approval like jazz and folk/country inspired pop album in a music industry dominated by hip hop and trap and swinging a tentacle from your mouth at Coachella :ohwell:

it's obvious she does what she wants lol yes she needs GP approval (i mean she's a popstar with one of the most disloyal fanbases) but she hasn't been 100% pandering. if she wanted absolute GP approval, Joanne wouldn't exist and we'd either had LG6 or a bunch of singles until one was a hit rn

Gp likes simplicity, vocals and hollywood and that’s what she’s been serving since 2015. Aside from very few winks to her past self like the octopus tentacle or the super bowl.

Joanne was made for gp's ears (especially Americans) with what-you-see-is-what-you-get lyrics. Not a bad thing but with the intention to appeal to the general audience who usually doesn’t want to think about hidden meanings in cryptic lyrics.

And about her style/persona they wanted to gain critics' praise and they couldn’t do that with crazy avant-garde Gaga. Not saying critics acclaim was the only reason, I’m positive she’s burned down with her life of 24/7 being performance, so they killed two birds with one stone.
