Venom is not part of MCU and from the trailer it looks very bad.. all the hype and promises that Sony made were false, the movie looks bad.. and even conics lovers says that..

It will have an Ant Man 2 kind of success...

I agree with most people here. It is highlyyyyyy unlikely ASIB will beat Venom opening weekend for Venom being a superhero movie alone. It being #2 and making a good amount of money regardless is what to shoot for, I think.

On opening weekend its possible that Venom could beat ASIB but in the following weeks as ASIB gets more popular and people hear it's good they will go see it and it will do better than V as time goes by. 

But who knows maybe the monsters and the old people will bump through opening weekend and blow ASIB out of the water over the nerds and the straights

Is this a surprise? We've been knowing that Venom and ASIB are going to be released on the same date.

Venom's most likely going to win that weekend, but at the same time, we shouldn't be worried. ASIB has gotten so much acclaim and critical praise that even if Venom does better financially, ASIB will do wonders in the long run.

 And as a comic book fan and as a Little Monster, I can tell you, for me the choise is easy: A Star Is Born.

Even though Venom isn't in the MCU, the fact that it's a comic book movie puts it on a pedastal—whether you think it deserves it or not is your opinion. This is the golden age of comic book/super hero movies. Don't underestimate that.

That said, I'd love to be proven wrong, and if it happens, quote me too, but also, don't be surprised if ASIB doesn't outgross Venom.

Why did WarnerBros choose that week to release ASIB ?

Sure.We don't need to worry about the box office but I still want it to be a commercial success.

they chose it because the demographics are completely different so there's literally no overlap except for the gays who want daddy venom to tongue f*** them. But they'll see Gaga first. The thing is, there's very little organic hype for Venom. People don't really care all that much. It doesn't really look or feel remarkably distinctive to the point where people are going to remember it super well and be hyped. Meanwhile, ASIB is only getting more and more hype. I'm not saying ASIB will win the weekend or box office run, but I don't think it's the doom-spell it's being made out to be either.
