Roboboy 3,766
Ok. I'm gonna get ripped to pieces for making this thread. But what the hell, here it goes. Do y'all remember that band BABYMETAL that opened for Gaga during a few US dates of the artRave? They're a Japanese girl group that mix metal with pop music, and it's pretty incredible. I'm not a fan of metal, but I still love BABYMETAL. Since opening for Gaga, they have become absolutely massive in Japan, Asia and the whole world, recently playing at the Tokyo Dome for two nights (55,000 seats) and they sold it out. They've also played Wembley Arena in London. BABYMETAL is made up of three girls. Su-metal, who is 20 (vocal and dance), and Yui-metal and Moa-metal, who are 19 (scream, background vocal and dance). Su provides lead vocals and dances, and the other two are credited with 'scream' and dance (basically background vocals and dance). Su has a handheld mic and the other two wear a headset. Yes, it's weird at first, watching three teenagers (well, the lead singer is 20 now) run around to metal? Yeah, it's weird. But they've become pretty badass over the years. And if you think I'm crazy, remember that I was never a fan of metal, and still am not a fan of most metal, but Gaga introduced me to BABYMETAL and they are amazing. I can see why Gaga loves them... Recently, there's been a lot of drama in the BABYMETAL community because one of the members, Yui, hasn't appeared for nearly a year, in any shows. A day before their massive arena show last year, Legend S in Hiroshima, it was announced that Yui couldn't perform due to 'illness''. Months later, at the beginning of their USA May Tour, people just assumed she would be back. But she wasn't. With no warning, Yui didn't appear, the costumes were completely different, and there were new dancers. The management rely heavily on mythology and vague storylines to keep the band going, and they just used that to cover Yui's absence. To this day, we still don't know why she is ill, and management have said they haven't decided if she will appear for their upcoming arena shows this October. But their production value is SICKENING. Here are a videos to watch before you decide if you like it or not. Here is IN THE NAME OF, an intro performance for their arena show last December, where Yui couldn't perform. This performance is only Su on stage as it was her 20th birthday concert so the intro was just her, and has no vocals, but is a stunning dark intro and shows you their amazing production value and the mythology based behind the band: A live performance of their song BABYMETAL DEATH (not much singing here - just saying their names) in Japan: And their most popular song ever.....a little childish, but hey..... AN AMAZING video from their Legend S performance of Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!, their best song, but the third member isn't there.... This is one of their best performances visually and vocally, too bad Yui isn't performing. And finally, here's a video of what the band is like nowadays. This was their most recent tour, performing their most recent, and most radio-friendly song, Distortion, after IN THE NAME OF with a STUNNING intro. As you can see, there is no third member and there are two dancers instead: There are SO MUCH BETTER videos out there, but I put this together in a rush and probably ISN'T THE BEST REPRESENTATION OF BABYMETAL. Other great recommendations are Syncopation (only avail in Japan, find it on YT) and Awadama Fever (ARTPOP fans will love this one). Yes, some of their earlier stuff is childish, but they're becoming more dark. Another performance of BABYMETAL DEATH on YouTube, the lead member is crucified. Yeah, it's pretty intense. BABYMETAL is something you'll hate at first, but grow to love. Sorry for being weird. Tell me what you think, and listen to more songs and watch more videos to help you decide lol. Gaga loves them, and maybe you will too.... Thanks!
Seeka 12,372
Did they give up the elegant gothic lolita look? I've been meaning to get into them myself. I just keep forgetting.
Robagaga 9,345
I ADORE BABY METAL. They serve BOPS their music is honestly amazing. I am still PRESSED that I didn't get to see them at artrave ugh. I am worried about Yui though. Hopefully she is ok and it isn't some intense disease. Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always.

Lumi 3,512
Babymetal is the best! Their performances are so incredible. I'm so jealous of the gays who got to see them during the ArtRave. And the intro they did for Gaga was so cute. They are real fans! underneath the pine

Well she pulled out of the show in December due to illness, but apart from that fans don't know where she is, no.

They've got some arena shows in Japan this October.
