I Think I Prefer Gaga As An Actress Now

Of course LG6 and ASIB OST are important to me, but the music industry to me right now is so boring. Everything sounds the same, and the artist who take risks are largely relegated to indie circles or niche audiences, and critics and audiences in the music fan community and/or music criticism circles tend to really focus on the image of the artist's whose music they are listening to. So many people won't give Gaga a chance because they see her as too mainstream, and conversely won't give her a chance because she is too weird or gay. In film criticism and fandom people tend to be more open-minded and are okay with actors as long as they give a good performance and do their jobs. I also find Academy Awards much more prestigious than any music awards at the moment, and tend to be more merit-based. I'm here for Gaga to become a movie star. If the gp doesn't fully appreciate her music she should focus on winning them over with her acting.

Yea but when she is a musician she has the opportunity to create her own art instead of acting in a role that was written by someone else. I got interested in her because of her creativity and of course actors can be creative in how they approach a role but its nowhere near the same level as the stuff she was doing as a musician.

I definitely like her as an actress, and if I'm being honest, I hope that her career becomes 50/50 acting and music, but I wouldn't go as far to say that I prefer her as an actress. I understand what you mean about thinking about how being an actress may give her some sort of "prestige," and while that is true, I just don't think we can completely disregard her love and passion for music as well.

Even though she said she wanted to become an actress at first, it's obvious that her calling is music. 

I think that acting gives her career nice diversity, and it gives her a great opportunity to be creative in a different setting, but I think we can have both equally.

The reason I became a fan of Gaga was for her unconventionality through music. The reason I stayed a fan was due to the fact she's always stayed true to herself despite the haters and the critics. I support her acting but I hope she isn't swayed to convert to acting just because she's more appreciated in that scene.

In music LG is a main pop girl.

In movies, she is not a main girl like Jennifer Lawrence, Angelina Jolie and others and may never be. This was literally the perfect role for her. Will she be able to pull off a variety of roles on THIS level? Keep in mind a lot of the reviews are praising her because they were surprised she could hold her own. Future roles won't have the low expectations.

Also don't big name music stars make more money than hollywood stars?

I prefer her to focus on music but it's great that she can also dabble into acting as well. I would also like her to produce movies down the road as well.

I hope she pursues acting further but I also hope she keeps exploring music because there’s so many things I believe she can do with both.

Gaga is fundamentally a performer, artist, entertainer. All avenues of such are open to her. It’s why I’ve always said pop star is the bottom rung of her career ladder.  Film, music, theatre, she will have an all encompassing career. Her title in the US will be “national treasure”.  We haven’t seen an all encompassing talent for a long time.

What worries me is that Gaga will abandon pop music and become local in a sense. Known mostly as an American icon as opposed to a global one.
