I mean she not a singer trying to be an actor, shes familiar with that world. She did go to school for it, shes on a level of her own. Comparisons made about her are rarely ever comparisons.

Glitter only bombed because Tommy Mottola (CEO of Sony) and J.LO (she can't sing) tried to sabotage Mariah and it's clearly worked since the movie and the soundtrack totally bombed and also because it's was released during the 9/11 i don't see a lot of people who want to go see a movie when there is WW3 in america

It bombed because it was terrible and she can't act.

There were other albums and movies that week.

Tea, but also it wasn't super awesome, either.

I mean, it was fun and could have been an okay outcome, if it weren't for the million factors working against her at that time.

Wow, all this praise is unbelievable. I’m just so happy that critics are loving this film as this was a big leap in her career and they are generally quick to discredit singers who try to become actresses. I’m happy that they are giving her credit for being a well rounded performer.

I don't think we give Gaga and her team enough credit for being selective and making good Big Picture decisions since 2013. 'Cuz part of why she's "succeeding where other pop stars failed" is that she chose the right project and collaborator in Bradley.

This is just a start. It's exciting cause both start for Bradley and Gags, it's certainly yet another "new page", in her novelty like career. There's many crowds to know who she is and some to rediscover  her.

2 days ago i heard her name passing by a group of teenagers. I haven't heard the word Gaga in a casual way since like 4 years ago when some friends talked about great concerts. It'll be a great shock to some people.

I'm sure Gaga will create some memorable characters. I'm so happy, she needed this, and its full cycle

LG team has done a great job but I also think they have wasted hype/Goodwill quite a bit too. She had so much buzz following her two Oscar performance, Golden globe win, national anthem, and Superbowl yet wasted them on a non trendy album. Let's hope they don't waste this too.

The first Oscar performance ingratiated her to the Academy and helped beget the first Oscar nomination. She lost, but losing that first nomination gives her a better shot at winning now (and for something she deserves more and will be much more important to her legacy than TIHTY). 

Her Golden Globe win helped her down the acting path, which finds us here, showered in praise and Oscar predictions.

There's an argument to be made that the "non-trendy" album, "Joanne," helps lead to ASIB, since there is a similarity in the music and style. I think it may have also helped her secure the Super Bowl. And besides, it generated a decent sized hit that was decent sized in spite of it flying in the face of current trends, which is more impressive.

That's what I mean by Big Picture. All of the decisions over the last few years may not have IMMEDIATELY paid off in an OBVIOUS way, but they all kind of work together to form a narrative. She is playing, and has been playing, the long game.

I agree it all played a role to get to this moment. But she could have squeezed in a big trendy cool pop era in there along the way too which would have been nice.

I also don't think Joanne secured the Superbowl. I know that's what their story is, but who else was gonna do it? As soon as they knew she had an album coming, it was pretty much a done deal.
