Around the same time there was a Canadian kid's singing competition that debuted on TV called "The Next Star" and there was a judge (named Suzie McNeil) who looked like this. For some reason I mistook her for Gaga and whenever I heard Lady Gaga on the radio I would think "Oh, she's that judge from The Next Star" Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Then some radio host said "this is Lady Gaga, british singer who said that pop culture will never be the same after her arrival" and I was "yeah right, pretentious Gwen Stefani wannabe." One night I was watching Rage, and all of a sudden Just Dance comes on. It seemed so nostalgic yet so modern. Being the hipster that I was, I then avoided the Gaga hype until three years later. Until after Gagamania had peaked over the course of 2009, 2010 and the first half of 2011. Finally, I watch the music video for Alejandro some time around September 2011. It was the first MV I had seen in it’s entirety since Just Dance, three years earlier. It was that moment I became a stan, ironically just as everyone else was starting to hate her. I YouTubed her entire videography up to that point. I was mesmerised, and also hating myself for being a snob and ignoring her during her meteoric rise. Oh, to be 19 again. Then again, I hated being 19. I’m no happier today, but I have come a long way. I’m proud to be a big little monster. Gaga is the most creative, talented person I know.
