rumours 45,521
Although not yet confirmed by the association, rumors are flying that the award for the Grammys' MusiCare Person of the Year for 2019 may go to Dolly Parton. If she wins the award, she will be 1 of only 6 women to ever receive the honor (including the recently deceased Aretha Franklin). She would also be the first country musician to ever win the prestigious award. Reasons given as to why she might receive the award: ~ The Grammys are looking to give a woman the award in the #metoo era who would also be popular (for ratings) in much of Middle America. ~ She was one of the pioneers in making country music mainstream and successfully transitioned into pop music. ~ Her Imagination Library Program (distributed over 105 million books to children around the world). ~ 47 Grammy Nominations (8 wins) Other artist who have received the award include "Sir Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel and Paul Simon". I'll include Spotify links to her 3 pop albums that sold the best: 9 to 5 and Odd Jobs, Here You Come Again, and Heartbreaker in this spoiler. Spoiler In terms of her best country album... that's a hard one... I might go with either Hungry Again, My Tennessee Mountain Home, or Little Sparrow. @GaGaSwift, what's your favorite Dolly country album?
