OMonster 14,724
Call it a reach, but I think some of Gaga's comments at today's press conference have gone unnoticed. When asked a question about the manipulative nature of fame and industry, Gaga gives a little smirk before explaining that "in many times in my career, I said no". Does this remind you of anything? She also added that "I have always loved to transform. I have always loved to shape-shift and become different characters. It is a part of my artwork, it is a part of my music". I think this is probably the most important and interesting quote (music related, at least) from today's conference. It is crystal clear from this that Gaga continues to perceive transformation and character as a defining feature of her music. To me, this pretty much confirms that LG6 will not be a toned down, Joanne-esque record. Joanne was a character and an understated transformation in itself. Taking into her account her work with Eli, it's obvious therefore that she will transform into something different for LG6 - and from the hints we have so far, it certainly seems to be in the direction of the more avant-garde and outrageous. I think both of today's quotes suggest we are in for a really challenging, non-conforming but still - of course - very Gaga record. PC music definitely aligns to this as do her Instagram photos, which clearly communicate a sense of rebellion and rejection of the pop and beauty norms she said no to. What do you guys think? I'm sure a lot of this could be perceived as a bit of a reach, but I think it's pretty solid evidence. I mean, it's some of the only spoken hints we have had directly from Gaga on her current direction and how she perceives her music. subtext / fantasy

crackpoppodcast 1,539
I caught onto her saying "I said no" as well! Definitely seems by now that it will be a title or song lyric. "I said no" is the new "I am my father's daughter, my sister's sister"

Things like "I've always been myself and I fought my a$$ off and I said no multiple times even though they said I wasn't beautiful enough" etc... That's also related to the weird pics, with the distorted body. LG6 will surely come after the music industry

Sure, the comments were not explicitly about LG6 as a complete record... but it gives us a very clear view into how she is thinking at the moment. And since her music and work always come directly from how she is feeling, it's a pretty obvious hint as to what we should expect. subtext / fantasy

REALITY 77,456
I've always found the word "transforming" a really weird way to describe Gaga and her music career. Even though she, herself, uses the word to describe her career, I don't see it as a "transformation" necessarily, but more of an evolution. Transformation, to me, implies that she completely sheds away the past persona and takes on a new one, and while to some degree that is true, it's not like she has forgotten anything from the past. She references her eras a lot and continues to build upon them one by one—which is why I like to call it an "evolution." I don't know, this doesn't necessarily pertain to the OP, but it's just something that I find interesting. JohnnyVersace 9,039
I think everything she's doing now goes along with this thought, and the the title "Enigma." Enigma is more than just being weird, it is shapeshifting, and ever-changing, and unknown. For me, that references her range of genres, types of art and methods. Pop, dance, country, rock, jazz, movies, art, performance, etc. She's multi-faceted, and I think her returning to her original team for Enigma, and teasing us with these bizarre photos is definitely leading up to something. And yes, in terms of what she said at Venice about shape-shifting and being different characters, just look at how she's dressed from May until now. High fashion in NY, rock vibes in Malibu, and now this ultra-elegant Hollywood archetype in Venice. She's constantly playing characters, and I think LG6 and Vegas will largely be about that.
