Gaga needed „Joanne“ to play Ally

I just saw the thread about the Interview with the LA Times. I know that some of you had that theory but nobody took it for real. But after reading this article I think it really could be true: Joanne was also her personal preparation to play Ally. As they said in the interview Gaga needed distance from all this glam, make-up, etc... The timing, the aesthetic, everything the Joanne era was would match perfectly with what was said in the interview. So could it really be that the original LG5 was scrapped cause she had to prepar herself for Ally?

(This is not meant to be hate against Joanne btw!)

Before you reply please read the article! It was posted in the news section :)

I'm starting to think it was a mix of that and her desire to appeal to the Nfl and get the halftime show.

If this is the case then where was the preparation for her Golden Globe winning performance as The Countess

Where is it

Because that’s an album I wanna listen to

That’s cool so long as all her future albums aren’t just preparations for roles because I am not here for that :selena:

I don't think it's safe to say Gaga "needed" Joanne for anything.

I think that, just like for every of her albums, she was in the mood of doing it. There were clearly multiple reasons to why she felt that way, and we'll never know every single one of them. Surely Joanne helped her build Ally's character (for what we know yet) and vice versa (like AHS was helping her developing her image for the "original" LG5, remember The Art Of Darkness).

But an album is always the product of so many ideas, moods, things we can't know for sure because even Gaga can't know them for sure, as it's sometimes diffucult to properly undestand how you're really feeling.

To me Ally's story is very similar to Gaga, going from performing in small clubs to fame. So, she just had to be a slighty different version of herself. If we consider Joanne her more autenthic album, being it a celebration of her family through heartfelt and personal songs, then yes, It helped her with the role of Ally, so similar yet so different to her.

If I remember correctly, there was a thread a while ago that pointed out that ASIB casting talks happened just before Gaga scrapped the original LG5 and began working on Joanne, so there may be some truth to this :oprah:

EDIT: here it is

Well, LG5 was rumored to be inspired by AHS, no? We now know it as Joanne, the farthest things to dark and horror, but who knows if sue wanted it that way since the beginning or she changed It.

I think that you may be on to something, but I'd like to add that while this was happening her relationship to Taylor was falling apart. So she turned inward a bit and I think found some connection in the simplicity that ASIB was demanding from her aesthetically because she just didn't have the energy or desire to be Gaga at that time. She didn't want to be a glam diva, she just wanted and needed to make music to feel better and heal and hopefully a little less lonely. So what I mean to say is that ASIB probably influenced the turn to Joanne, for sure, but I think that it was something she needed to do and ASIB may have helped her access that need (in addition to Mark).

Yea I believe LG5 was stated by gaga herself to be heavily influenced by her participation in AHS and as we know it, that concept was scrapped for...Joanne :green:

Joanne was a response to the public's declining interest in Gaga, they were sick of the stunts and they thought she was talentless because the electronic production of her first few albums masked her voice. Gaga genuinely wanted to create an album like Joanne, it wasn't entirely the creation of the record label, but it was definitely in response to the failure of ARTPOP.
