JustHMLover 1,635
After releasing the single “Connection” in June, OneRepublic is back with a music video for the track. Delivered Tuesday (Aug. 28), the “Connection” visual was shot at The Oculus, New York City’s newest addition to the 9/11 memorial. Directed by Joe Pront and choreographed by Matthew Peacock, the video shows off the breathtaking architecture of the building as it addresses a bigger message: the conflict between reality and the digital world and finding the balance between blending in and standing out. The monochromatic video starts with lead singer Ryan Tedder drinking a cup of coffee, observing the foot traffic from above through a glass window. The frontman then joins the fast-walking crowd at The Oculus, all wearing suits and looking down at their hands as if they're holding their phones. As they walk by him without an acknowledgement, Tedder soulfully sings, “Tryin' to disconnect, thinking maybe you could show me/ If there's so many people here, then why am I so lonely?” As people continue to walk nonstop, a woman suddenly starts to dance -- freely flowing in the midst of the crowd, trying to get their attention. Tedder and the dancer see each other but end up getting lost in the crowd, causing a missed connection. The video then gains color, as the band rocks the chorus “Can I get, can I get a connection?” in a colorful performance in the middle of The Oculus. - Billboard
enigmaunicorn 626
I really like the song but the chorus sounds somewhat weird
Dawson 9,488
not much to say about this one. It can barely reach the 3 minute mark and has a weak chorus
