It’s complicated because of the reputation TFM has. TFM definitely has a more compact and polished concept and sound which makes it such a wonderful listen as a whole. That said, BTW has so much more to offer in terms of message. It does suffer from all the different sounds, themes and directions but I don’t mind that. Life is a journey that pulls you into so many directions, sometimes in so many that you become overwhelmed. And that is embodied well within Born This Way as an album. So it depends but I would pick BTW even though TFM has a couple of my absolute favorite tracks.

I think that TFM is the conventional answer because it feels more polished, and most of the songs sound like they are ready to be hits. Also it has the advantage of being extremely condensed into only 8 tracks.

I'd (maybe controversially) state that people choose TFM because it's emblematic of Gaga's peak commercially and culturally. I sometimes fall into that "trap" and wonder if she peaked artistically at that time, but really I don't think so.

Born This Way was incredibly ambitious for the position she was at in her career. I'd argue that it's the most recent pop album by a major star to really subvert current trends. I think that in the future the album will be credited more for how daring it was, lyrically and especially sonically. Whereas I feel that in several aspects TFM was just a more mature extension of what she had already given to us on TF.

BTW blindsided me in many ways. As a music fan of 16 years old, it was exciting to see a pop star do something that felt truly rebellious. She was easily the biggest star in the WORLD. I remember kids sitting in my IT class on their phones tuned into the radio just to hear the premiere of the lead single! She could've easily just served bops. But the production was so bold and almost scruffy in some places, and I don't remember listening to a major pop album since that felt so intentionally unpolished and really had a clear drive/aesthetic/goal throughout. Lyrically, I also think that she was at her best.

I really cherish this album, and I always will. As an aspiring musician, I am glad to feel such a close connection with it. I'm especially glad (and grateful) that it came out when I was at the age that I was - it really struck me.

The Fame Monster is phenomenal. But I don't think that it really comes close to matching the levels of artistry and individuality that Gaga reached with Born This Way. I'd be so excited if she ever released something that surpassed my love for this album.

Born ThIs Way is not only Gaga's best album, but one of the best and most ambitious pop albums from a mainstream act ever.

Trust you to basically sum up what I meant to communicate in an essay-length post in one sentence

Born This Way easily. As much as I loved The Fame Monster and used to think she'd never top it, BTW is just on another level.

TFM is definitely better than ARTPOP, The Fame and Joanne though.

Teeth well duh if added to BTW would be the least good one of any of them

SHICD a useless track , she never cared for it.

Telephone is somehow meh

I know what everyone who says TFM will say: BTW is overlong and messy and every song on TFM is perfect, and therefore it’s better. I get that, but BTW is a distillation if everything makes Gaga great. It’s weird, experimental, funny, compassionate, and 90% of it is great. Ultimately, I’d say BTW, but they’re both amazing pieces of work. :vegas:

I originally voted TFM but this is a very good point that it making me appreciate BTW even more
