her dad owns a big share of big machine. That’s how she got a record deal in the first place. so she might sign with them again, or do what Beyonce did by creating a subsidiary label (parkwood) under Columbia Records, the parent label. She can own everything and a make a **** ton of money, but it’s a lot of work. But she’s a smart businesswoman, she’ll figure it out

Fake news. Scott Borchetta approached Taylor and her family in 2004, back when big machine didnt yet exist and didnt have financing or a roster of artists, after seeing her perform at the bluebird cafe in nashville. He said he'd recruit Swift when his label was established which was in September 2005. And Scott Swift, her dad, owns 3 percent of big machine not "a big share". Her dad has nothing to do with her getting a record deal. He also didn't buy 100'000 copies of her first album to ensure a high debut, another ridiculous rumor. The album debuted at #19 with 40k copies.

Anyways I think they dropped the best album from the contract because of streaming. Maybe a japan only release since they still buy best albums. would be good promo for her 2 tokyo dome concerts if they released it before the contract ends.

I'm guessing she'll stay anyways unless some other label makes a killer offer. She manages herself with an in-house team though so it wouldnt really make a difference for her.

Lol all the fake news in this thread

her father only owns like 2%, and he bought those shares after Taylor was signed. Taylor basically made that label, so of course she has stock in it too

BMR is probably not the place for Taylor anymore, as she pop/Top 40 now and the label doesn’t have the resources in place to give her the push she needs (which Republic does). There’s also been drama between her and Scott, so I’m not sure she is going to stay

Taylor should do what beyonce did. It would give her the kind of control she already has, but much more money would go to her, and it’s actually a pretty great publicity move because it makes her look extremely self sufficient.

so how about instead of shading her for dumb stuff like this (which is actually pretty smart) you shade Ariana and that other rat Camila for having *actually* bought their hits through payola. Just a thought

No offense but Look What You Made Me Do was the biggest payola'd song of 2017, and I don't say this as a dumb Twitter stan who doesn't even know what payola is. If you followed the song's radio updates, it boosted so high even though its radio score was not good and then suddenly after, it started falling down so hard. The amount of audience impression she lost per day for a few weeks was not normal, it was huge. Payola had a huge hand in this era's radio charting, besides Delicate.

It was only Look, cause if she used Payola for the other songs they would’ve crushed every other top 10 song, but they mostly flopped sadly.

Delicate imo is one of the only true organic hits in Pop we’ve seen in a long time.

she should stay with them, they spent so much money on her and her music. They obviously believe in her work

Oh I know it was and I followed the updates, but she doesn’t owe her success and actual career to it like these other girls do. Which is what the others are trying to imply by saying her father owns a huge chunk of BMR, which is not even true

Oh then yeah I agree with you. Her tours are an obvious proof of that.

I hope queen buys the rights to her all her music.

I think she should stay with them tbh. She has near complete creative control and they do a really good job pushing her music. 1989 had one of the best promo campaigns ever. The only reason Reputation's was smaller was because Taylor didn't want to do all the press.
