Great review! If the reviews keep going like that after Venice we can expect Gaga to win Best Actress at Golden Globes and Oscars. Queen of the world.

She’s up against Glenn Close and i dont think Glenn is gonna lose another oscar for the 7th time this time. That said, a golden globe win and an oscar nomination seem pretty likely.

I got goosebumps. Just reading that made me so proud of both of them and even more excited to see this movie. I’ve had that one snippet of The Shallow stuck in my head for weeks and now I’m sure it’s not going anywhere any time soon.

:nooo: what was that? I am so proud of you, Gaga! :worship2:

By the way, from the reviewer's judging of the technicality of filmmaking and it' relation to the narrative and emotional effect, I can say he is a really, really learned person in the art of filmmaking. :golfclap:

Diane Warren lost 8 times an Oscar...ahah

But we have another category with high chances: Best Original Song

This is the most positive review I've ever read of any movie, it doesn't even sound real... HOLY ****. Are we sure this isn't one of y'all who hacked into the website?? The fact that there's not ONE negative critique throughout the whole thing seems insane to me.

Bradley compared to Kubrick and Scorsese... Gaga being "flawless in every scene" and compared to Gena Rowlands...

Anyway: I don't think it's healthy to base our expectations solely on this review. It's a nice potential signal to what other critics may think, but film is the most subjective thing in the world. 5F2 got rave reviews before it was premiered by early critics but it ended up getting generally favorable reviews in the end. Just a reminder for perspective y'all.

Nobody compares to that performance. Nobody. But Gaga does. Wow. I'm speechless... :worship2:

Glenn Close doesn't write and sing classic songs like The shallow

Talkhouse describes it as an "instant classic"!

"The undeniable standout is Lady Gaga, whose performance here goes far beyond what we typically think of as great acting and moves into the territory of, say, Gena Rowlands in A Woman Under the Influence. The role requires her to play every note on the emotional scale from the depths of despair to the joyous exuberance, and Gaga is flawless in every scene. Her work proves the cliché about the specific becoming universal, as she plays each moment in surprising, unique ways and makes bold choices no other actress would conceive of, yet gives each of those moments a profound and affecting sense of recognition for the audience – every triumph and every heartbreak feels utterly honest and relatable, and it all builds to one of the most emotionally shattering finales I’ve ever encountered in a movie"
