Can Gaga Smash In Today's Pop Culture Landscape?

She can definitely have a level of success akin to say Ray of Light era for Madonna. It’s hopefully this album cycle. But it needs to be an iconic song backed by a critically acclaimed album. I wouldn’t expect a whole album of hit singles like we used to have though, but I think there’s a level she’s at now which she has earned and it’s not something a debut artist could get. That’s the thing, is now Gaga is in her own lane and the only success she is competing against is her own.

I totally agree - and we can see that with The Cure, especially in Australia where she was basically dropped after ARTPOP and all through Joanne. The Cure did quite well there especially on radio with 0 promotion.

That was kind of generic though if I'm being honest. Million Reasons should've slayed harder overseas.

If she goes back to TF/M persona where she doesn’t serve ‘forced-positivity’ music and give us bops + interesting themes/looks; cuz no body is buying this mother-like persona.

She could smash if she wanted to. The cure did well with 0 promo. She literally just needs some hits with decent promo and iconic visuals for her next album and she’ll be fine. The gp is still interested. It’s gaga who has alienated herself

You have to understand that charts are driven by teenagers and kids. Gaga was super cool in 2009, but she lost her mojo. Stop caring about chart success. It's NOT happening. Britney never had a comeback because she was the biggest star in the world in 2007, so it would be obvious that people would be interested in her new material, but Gaga's comeback is not happening. It really depends on how well her promotional strategies are thought out.

I don't expect her to be everywhere around the world with the new release, not even Beyonce did that, Apeshit and Everything is Love are only moderate success and that is fine. At this point artists like Beyonce and Gaga have nothing left to prove. They are still making millions of dollars from touring, they are still getting recognised by the awards, and they are still getting certifications for their albums. They are doing fine. They might not be omnipresent like they used to but these achievements are enough to keep them relevant.

I think her goal is to sell albums rather than singles, just like Beyonce's is. Lemonade and BEYONCE were huge albums but apart from Drunk in Love, the singles weren't really played on the radio the way trendy radio hits are.

I do believe she can get one or two moderate hits if she promotes them well but I don't expect a #1 single.
