Gaga considered it a new album, however Interscope did not. They considered it an EP/re-release of her debut album. You only have to go to their website to read that.

it's a body of work with new songs that fit the definition of "album", i'm sure contractually it IS an album

Exactly, NO ONE, said what Arabella was for. We all just came to our own assumptions. She never said it was for re-signing with Interscope.

Honey, from Gaga herself in an MTV interview- "I would not add, nor take away any songs from this EP. It is a complete conceptual and musical body of work that can stand on its own two feet." Though it is a singular body of work, it is still an EP. Meaning Extended Play (EP) of The Fame, which is the reason it was called The Fame Monster. If it was a completely separate album i'm sure she would have called it something else.

the quote you wrote doesn't prove anything the fact that it is an EP doesn't mean it can't be counted as part of the contract. As she said "it is a complete conceptual and musical body of work that can stand on its own two feet", which means it doesn't need TF

Whether you want to personally consider TFM an album or an EP, it would've fallen as an official release under her contract. It was released individually and as part of TF, therefore would've incurred the same costs as an album release anyway. It consisted of only new material, received as much promotion as any other normal album release, had singles go to radio, videos, a tour etc.

I don't know how many time I have to tell you this......Lady Gaga Signed a 5 album contract.....MEANING 5 ALBUMS.....this does not include EP's or remix compilations....The Fame is the first album that Lady Gaga released in 2008....she then added 8 tracks and re-released it as The Fame Monster in 2009.....in 2011 she released Born This Way(Her SECOND album)...In 2013 she released ARTPOP..... in 2015 she made Cheek to Cheek with Tony Bennett which was released by BOTH Columbia Records and Interscope...and in 2016 she released Joanne. 

I get where your confusion comes from. You think that her 5 albums are The Fame- The Fame Monster - Born This Way- ARTPOP - Joanne. But they are not. Interscope consided Cheek to Cheek as her 4th album even though it was a collaboraton.

Her five albums are - The Fame/Fame Monster - Born This Way - ARTPOP - Cheek To Cheek - Joanne.

THE FAME MONSTER IS NOT CONSIDERED AN ALBUM BY HER RECORD LABEL, IT IS CONSIDERED AN EP. WHY DO YOU THINK WE KEEP REFERRING TO THE NEW ALBUM SHE KEEPS TEASING US WITH AS LG6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the trailer it said it was under Interscope records, but they have a long history with Warner so it could be both.

If she calls the new album LG6 (and used to call Joanne LG5), then the only way that's possible is with TFM being an independent album. TF is LG1, TFM is LG2, BTW is LG3, AP is LG4, and Joanne is LG5. C2C is a joint album so it isn't LG6, but LGTB1
