ST, Lemonade, Anti, Sweetener Metacritic Score

I just noticed something happening with pop acts that gets good metacritic scores, it seems like suddenly Ari and critics love Sweetener just because it jumped on the urban trend, and that made it to have a higher score on MT for the sole reason it had an urban sound and not pop,  just like it happened with ANTI, ST AND LEMONADE, all of them getting a high score just because it had an urban sound and not pop regardless of the quality of the songs, critics are so transparent rn  

Tbh I bet if  Demi or Halsey  release a full record of them farts with urban instrumentals it would get a 90+ score and stans would be sucking/loving the album.

Because i have read that suddenly, Beyonce, Rihanna and Ari became some how "alt" girls and/or "less basic" when them albums have literally the same basic urban sound that's been trending in the last years + were made by camps/urban producers and have 0 input by them, and yet, even all of that, it seems like those 3 are the critics darlings everyone should aspire to be    mumble rap and hip hop are killing the pop stars tbh

 

And to think that good albums like Stripped or Born this Way got lower scores because some critics decided to take it personal and talk about the artists instead of the music... i....

Excuse you, Anti is better than Lemonade and Sweetener combined 

Also, I don't find Sweetener to be an urban album, it's just very Pharrell influenced.

It feels like excellent pop albums end up with the same scores as average hip hop albums and critics give more passes to rappers.

Metacritic doesn't even reflect quality.

Divide by Ed Sheeran is a Grammy winning album and it only has a 62 Metacritic score, Joanne has 67, Kesha's Rainbow has 81.

Lemonade by Beyonce has a 92 Metacritic score when Adele's 25 has a 75 score. However the album with the lower score won Album of the Year.

There are a lot of great albums with low Metacritic scores because they take into account the artists' past albums' performance to determine whether or not they have met their expectations. Huge artists like Gaga usually have the public set very high expectations against her whereas Selena Gomez delivered a mediocre album like Revival and got approximately the same score as Adele did (74 for Selena, 75 for Adele).

At this point it's not about the music anymore.
