EnigmaMonstr 26 Posted August 9, 2012 Share Posted August 9, 2012 Nope, she's a real artist and her vision, talent, determination, artistry and her love for creating innovative music are some of the biggest reasons why Gaga makes her music, and that's how it should be. What she puts out is almost always ingenious but if she needs to please the whole public (lowest common denominator) there'd be nothing interesting left. Gaga is a genuine artist who follows her own artistic vision. Not a middle of the road manufactured crowd-pleaser. There are plenty of those though, so if you want to find someone with the same mindset as the one you expressed above you should easily find lots of "stars" you could stan for. Why? Some artists genuinely don't care about seeming "smart" or "brilliant," and instead focus their attention elsewhere. That doesn't mean they cannot prove their brilliance and genius-like abilities along the way. Who knew a hook like Bad Romance's would do so well? Only a brilliant songwriter, of course. But do you think she wrote the track with that thought-process? Absolutely not. Exactly..? You both just proved my point... Her vision, talent, determination, and innovation have always been genius. And personally, that to me is what makes her music so exhilarating, fun, and fresh.. the fact that when you listen to a new Gaga song you go "Wow this is genius". It's not generic, or typical, its always something new. Because you know what? She is a genius musician. Why would I want a Gaga record that wasn't genius? I need the Government Hookers, Scheisses, Bad Romances, Poker Faces, etc. of the world to feed my pop heart. Shade on you guys for undermining that Gaga music in itself is and should be genius. I'm not saying she should wake up and go "How can I be genius today?", but its just what ends up happening when she makes music. And thats what im here for. Thats the Gaga I've been here for. I was stating the exact opposite of what you're accusing me of. She can't not be brilliant, which is why she just has to create according to her own vision and not get bogged down with thoughts about the public and if they'd understand it. 2) Yes, you sounded like you said she should wake up thinking how to show the public her genius, to consciously write her music thinking how to make it seem "genius" to the public - emphasis on public (which inevitably would lead to self-censoring your artistic vision and giving people a boring, watered down version of the original - that's against the artist's frame of mind). She writes her music because she wants to express her artistic vision; which is exactly the opposite of wanting to please as many people as possible. It's her love, her determination and her genius that drive her pursuits and that's just as it should be. :) Like you said, it just is that when she does something it is ingenious. She does not need to try and think about the public's potential understanding of her work (or lack thereof) because that would only go against her artistic integrity as well as her very core. tl;dr Gaga is genius, she should express her genius and vision any way she wants - that's what a true artist does. A hack only thinks about showing themselves and what they create in the best light when it comes to the audience - they're not creating art so much as pandering to the safe, mediocre and sometimes completely dim-witted tastes of the general public. Gaga is a visionary and a revolutionary, thinking about the public (lowest common denominator) as if they were the ultimate judges of what is brilliant and what is not goes against everything she is and does. Anyone else getting iamamiwhoami teas? LOVE this though! The covers are just so horrible. The dress is nice but whats up with that big blonde afro? I'll all here for her strange hairdos but i'm not feeling this one. Plus the second picture for Vogue is much better but even that looks so poorly edited and airbrushed as fukc.
