I love the album's production, the real drums and guitars, along with the synthesizers on some songs. The lyrics are great too, the hooks more well thought than on her previous albums. I like folk and country, but still prefer pop and rock by far. I listen to all types of music, actually, so it was never a problem to me when she released an album that was not dance/electronic. My favourite artists are George Michael, INXS, Queen, Michael Jackson, Tears For Fears, Depeche Mode, David Bowie, Blondie, The Cranberries, Muse, Toto, Foo Fighters, Slipknot and, since 2016, Lady Gaga. Diamond Heart, A-YO, Joanne, John Wayne, Dancin' In Circles, Million Reasons and Perfect Illusion are GOLD. IMO, only Bad Romance and Paparazzi can top them. The album sounds even better in 2018 tbqfh. I'm glad she decided to do what she really wanted, even though it disappointed some fans. That way she can conquere even more listeners/fans who really like MUSIC, not just a personal diva to worship. I cannot wait to see what she has prepared for us with LG6. It's a good album, but Joanne accomplishes what it sets out to do more and is much more interesting and contrasting with Gaga's discography as a whole. Its just a big mess for me, album-wise. Joanne has better tracks. Just listen to Diamond Heart, A-Yo, Joanne, John Wayne, Perfect Illusion, Million Reasons, Sinner's Prayer, Hey Girl and Angel Down. Its just a far more enjoyable album than ARTPOP. Era-wise, ARTPOP was a mess. Gaga claimed her "pop queen" title a little bit early and acted like it that people thought of her as a self-centered, egotistic artist. But the fashion, her hair, the choreography, the performances are way better. Joanne was cleaner although it was boring. It had fewer but bigger promotions. brunothesinger 127 Posted August 28, 2018 Share Posted August 28, 2018 It's pretty hard to compare Gaga albums because she's one of those unique artists who explore different genres in each album - which I find great because it's not predictable. That's why I love her. If I were to pick one between ARTPOP and Joanne, I'd pick Joanne but it's just a matter of personal taste. It's more similar to the kind of music I make myself, so I could relate better.
