It's sadly very true that many straight men would never buy a standard grooming product unless it looks like it is designed for men. I mean, they even make gendered hair dye and frickin Dude Wipes, the toxic masculinity version of wet wipes for your butt. I wish this wasn't the case but I see the market, and if it encourages more people to put effort into their grooming and look their best, then you go bois.

I just hope that next someone releases some dang brow gel and trimming scissors packaged in a manly ass box covered in titties, Budweiser and footballs to get those straight boys who are scared of looking gay by owning grooming products to start doing something about them face caterpillars

I believe what they're trying to do here is to show that even men can wear makeup and not be judged for that, cause it's usually heavily related to women and women's beauty, so they're trying to bring this idea (that has already existed in smaller circles) to gp and bigger audience, I don't think they're trying to offend anyone who already usses makeup and is a male, so stop being so salty, kudos to them for this!

There are BARELY any differences (mostly on fragance and design, what doesn't justify the price change but whatevs) and most of the time it's just a marketing strategy.

Just FYI, this is not true. Women's razors are designed for legs, so they have the blades spaced further apart, usually fewer blades, and tend to have a significantly larger moisture strip around one or both edges, because women tend to shave large smooth areas with thin, vellous hair, rather than small and irregularly shaped areas with coarse hair. That's why men's razors work better on the bikini area! (Beauty protip ) You might say men's razors give you more bang for your buck as they tend to have more blades, but they're certainly not designed the same.

Not that I disagree with your overall point.I just thought I'd dispel this misinterpretation of the very real problem that women get charged more for inferior yet pink products.

I think it's progress. Let's be realistic. They won't make makeup gender-neutral. They'll promote it on women because way more women wear and buy it. This could help more men be more confident in wearing makeup and such.

First of All, makeup itself rose out of female insecurity and strict notion of conventional beauty under patriarchal pressure. It is only recently that makeup has been redefined by women as a feminist statement. Now women have CHOICE to do makeup, without any pressure of catering to patriarchal notions of beauty. When men started embracing makeup it in a way challenged the conventional idea of masculinity. Study of genders led to the idea that makeup has no gender. Now both men and women have the choice of doing makeup. At least in theoretical terms.

But what I do not like about this new step of Chanel is that they created a makeup line for men in a way that validates the gender binary. Makeup for women and makeup for men - these two things do not mean makeup for everybody. It is desired to do away with this men/women binary in all spheres of life and introduce gender neutral ideas and corresponding materials.
