During the weekend in Chicago, 66 people were shot, 12 of them fatally, between Friday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 11:59 p.m.

"It's no secret that we had an unacceptably violent weekend," Police Superintendent Eddie T. Johnson said.

The spate of shootings left Chicago officials visibly frustrated during a Monday press conference, in which they said gun offenders needed to be held accountable, and they pressed for more community cooperation to stem the crimes.

In all, over the weekend, there were 33 shooting incidents. Fourteen juveniles were shot, and an 11- and 13-year-old were killed.

In at least one incident, shooters opened fire into a crowded street party, police said. Of the wounded who reported an age, the oldest was 62 and the youngest 11, police records show.

By the way, Chicago has some of the strictest gun control laws so that will not help. They are currently doing police outreach programs and awareness so I hope that helps. I think a lot of the shootings has to do with gang activity

Hopefully the people of Chicago are able to live in piece, especially the disadvantaged communities:heart:

I live in Chicago. It mostly happens on the south side and is gang related. The summer weather tends to increase gang violence.

It's a terrible amount of shootings, but i hate how it stigmatizes this beautiful city. Chicago isn't some dangerous place, it's isolated to one area. Hopefully the south side will find peace soon, cuz i know people on the south side and they tell me their stories and it is awful how they how to live in the constant fear that they do.

Let’s not pay attention to the fact that homicide rates in Chicago have gone down since the hieght in the 1970s — since gun regulation was introduced.

Classic logical fallacy the right loves to push — post hoc, ergo propter hoc BS

Dry heat is vastly different from humid heat. 97 can easily "feel like" or have a heat index of ten degrees higher, depending on the humidity. A dry 97 is somewhat comfortable, but not an extremely humid 97.
