lost in limbo 6,035
Tbh, as people (read: ryanripley and PunkTheFunk) have stated, BTW wouldn't have fit anywhere but 2011 (unless it was prior). The situation was pretty dark back then and it's scary to think ALL of that stuff was still a thing 7 years ago and I believe we wouldn't have got same-sex marriage and more LGBTQ+ acceptance if it weren't for that album and Gaga. Even if we brushed that off, 2016 wasn't a good year either. Everything that Gaga had help repeal was, well repealed, but there was the election, conversatives coming out of their hiding spots and the term SJW became more widespread and all females were flopping, so she would either be a) called an Iluminati SJW w**re and her album the spawn of the devil or b) she would've just been ignored. I'm all for changing ARTPOP and Joanne for the benefit of her career, but we should also remember how those album's playouts changed her as a person and her career and how essential they were for her personal growth, and yes, her career. So, really, I think we should stop thinking about the past and focus on the future, whenever it wants to come (*cof cof* LG6 *cof cof*). And bc I've made out a rant out a simple thread, I'll end it by saying that just bc it was better suited for it's time, doesn't mean it has aged. BTW remains timeless and with no expiration date this is the state of grace, this is the worthwhile fight
Twitter 14
@CrazyMonster this is actually an interesting thought there’s just some pros than cons. Pros: 1. ARTPOP would have been more successful with massive music videos, singles, and promo. The eras choreo isn’t as tough as BTW either. 2. Joanne would have shooked the GP and got to know Gaga on a more personal level. Besides I think PI, MR, JW, DIC, and Joanne would’ve been the singles of the era. Joanne maybe have more promo in singles and streams. 3. Like you said BTW could’ve been very political and based off the songs would have continue her peak and increased streams, YouTube views, etc. Cons: 1. BTW would have been dated and overexposed so the era or LG6 would flop. And imagine the SBHTS setlist. 2. BTW would have fewer singles with little to no promo. The sequence is a bit odd to since Gaga would go from a crazy rave girl to a calm country to a dark rebel. 3. Each album would most likely have more of the scrapped/unreleased material on the album. Andrea B 16,761
I don't agree with this. this is better, in my opinion: 2011: BTW BTW had a huge impact because in 2011 everyone was shocked by Gaga, she was one of the first political mainstream artists in this decade. Late 2012: ARTPOP in 2012 EDM/pop was trendy. Early 2014: Joanne In 2013/2014 ballads were trendy as well(Adele and sam smith and some other artists) 2016: C2C ARTPOP was released when EDM music was slowly dying in the US

I see ARTPOP as a step backwards compared to BTW. ‘If religion be the cause of disunity, then irreligion is surely to be preferred.’ ‘Abdu’l-Bahá
