Streaming for Dummies

Featured Posts

So last era we weren't ready. Joanne was not a streaming hit. Luckily we were saved by album sales.

Today, streaming is even more important.

I'm fairly new to it myself and I imagine a lot of the fanbase is new or hasn't even made the switch yet. Prepare us for the upcoming era!

A few questions:

What happens if we only play half a song?

Or almost the full song except the last 3 seconds? Do they count?

What happens if we save a song on our playlist and then play it offline? Does it count?

It doesn't really matter tbh, Tidal is faking numbers, Spotify is pushing whoever they want and ****ing up the charts and Apple Music sucks..

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

I think I read somewhere that it had to be half of the song to count, but maybe each service reports them differently

Well guess Gaga better bundle ASIB OST with tickets then.

this kind of attitude our fanbase has towards streaming is what will cause Gaga's next eras to bomb. We have to all get behind streaming.

iTunes is dead.
CD's have been dead.

I'll make a detailed thread in the last weeks of September regarding streaming and everything about it in regards to our fanbase/ASIB/LG6 in order to prep for the eras.

To answer the OP.

1. Then it doesn't count.
2. It counts.
3. It'll count when you get online.

This is a nice attempt to motivate the fans but in the end it is just a drop in the ocean. I don't think that her issue are fans who are not streaming. As a fanbase we're doing more than enough. The real issue is the lack of promo and therefore lack of recognition among the GP. If she wants her next album to be a success she should promote the hell out of it. But that's not really up to us anyway.

yes I think so.
I think when you buy it on iTunes and it's on your library as Purchased Music it won't count as streaming it

Also should add that, yes, Joanne was no streaming juggernaut. But she's not dead on streaming. Joanne wouldn't be a Platinum album in the United States if it weren't for the fans that streamed it. Out of the ~1.1 million units Joanne has shifted in the United States ~278,000 units are from Streaming. That's about 417,000,000 US streams.

I agree it's a drop in the bucket. But I'm just more concerned with what I am doing to help/hinder. A lot of times I don't finish the song and would wonder if that stream is counting or not. If I don't like a song, it helps me to know that I just have to get passed the half way point and still help.

ALso what happens if I forward part of a song? How deep into the song do I have to play for it to count?

You have to keep in mind that not all members of the fan base care about her commercial success. I support her by buying her albums. I couldn't care less about hits and streaming numbers.

Yep. It's up to Interscope and her to promote the work.

Judas is coming, let the cultural baptism begin.
