I love her music but her personality makes it equally harder for me to like her, maybe its the same for other people.:emma:

She could remain smashing (because it's Madonna) but she has to do something that would blow everyone away. I know she can because she proved before

She tries too hard to be appealing to the young generation with trendy music and collaborations. She neglets her fans by releasing music that is beneath her. She has lost the plot.

Her attitude and content have not aged gracefully. Cher is 71 and treated like a legend because she has matured and aged gracefully.

Ageist comment. There's not a 'graceful way to age. Age is a number and if she feels like fooling around and being sexy she must be allowed to do that and be respected for her choice.

I don't see anyone criticising Mick Jagger and saying he hasn't aged gracefully and that he hasn't matured. He's praised because he's a man, that's it. Why does maturity have to equal not trying to be appealing and sexy?

Because our generation and the next is realizing that many of the beloved popstars from the 80s and 90s epitomize white mediocrity.

Of course because she's a woman.

Duh.

Too many people here with moral superiority complex.

Yeah she got 1 mediocre album (MDNA, still full of club bangers) but let's discredit the 11 others who are flawless

Madonna to Confessions were all mature albums. Hard Candy not so much but it had that R&B vibe and she most likely played the bossy/bad b*tch image on purpose. Then MDNA was indeed a weird decision, I admit. Rebel Heart is everything but immature, the only exception would be Bitch I'm Madonna, the rest of the album has songs like Joan Of Arc, Messiah, Rebel Heart, Beautiful Scars, Borrowed Time etc...

That is subjective. You can say A to Z til your mouth frothy but if it is doesn't sell then it doesn't sell. And by that, not just $$$, but songs that make people listen to it for over and over. Songs that is getting heavy airplay because how it was cultivated.

I wouldn't say MDNA and Rebel Heart  are good albums.  For someone who listens to her growing up and witnessed the peak of her creativity on the mid 90s/early 2000s, I know she can definitely do better than those two albums. It is bland and uninspiring. Sure, there are a couple of songs or three that worthy. But is that enough? Not to me, not exactly. I am certainly not sold by it. Hence I stand on my own opinion.

It's the quality of her recent music, and also her attitude. My generation seems to be much more fond of Cher, and my theory is not only because her shows are still fabulous, but because she has a sense of humor about herself and she doesn't talk **** about the younger set of pop stars.

If Madonna is mediocre to you I'm afraid to even ask what you think about Taylor Swift or Ariana Grande lol

She has a bad attitude, and her fans can be real bullies.

Actually, there is a graceful way to age, which reflects in the fact that Madonna is not as respected as Cher. This isn't purely about how promiscuous and sexual one is. Cher is still very sexy in her outfits and everything at an older age. Madonna is too but has a revolting attitude, lacks humility and seems bitter and sad a lot. Her work doesn't exist in a vacuum, so this affects how everything she is involved in is perceived.

Also, by saying there is "no graceful way to age", you are saying that you have no standards lol. By your standard, there would be no problem with a 40 year old acting with intelligence, talent and perspective to give to the world to act like a 5 year old all the time instead. To call them out by your standard would be ageist - which is sad.

At the end of the day though. I think this conversation is pointless. One day (hopefully far away) she’ll pass away and people will go through her career and realize just how important she was.

In the meantime, I don’t think she’s particularly concerned with her status. She has 6 kids to keep her busy, 3/4 of a billion dollars, and the ability to do whatever she wants in her career pretty much.

Don’t worry about M guys. She’s fine I promise 😂
