Born This Way helped Judas...

This is a throwback since it happened in 2011....

On The Week Judas debuted at #10 on the Hot 100, Born This Way was at #5 but dropped to #13.

Sad, but if Born This Way didn't drop out of the top 10, Judas would've not debuted at #10, ending her 8 consecutive top 10s in the US. (Since Judas didn't rise that much because of the ban on radio, so I don't think it would've reached the top 10 the next week)

However the fall of Born This Way helped Judas lol....:firega:

1. Just Dance- #1

2. Poker Face- #1

3. LoveGame- #5

4. Paparazzi- #6

5. Bad Romance- #2 :saladga:

6. Telephone- #3

7. Alejandro- #5

8. Born This Way- #1

9. Judas- #10

10. The Edge of Glory- #3

11. You and I- #6

12. Marry The Night- #29 :icega:

So, blame Marry The Night lol.

I don't understand the correlation.

What if both songs were in the top 10 and another one dropped out of it? :ohwell:

I Wantth your Love...I Wantth your Love.

Judas is such an iconic song... I might be wrong on this technically, but I believe it did REALLY well on Canadian radio across the board, whereas I think US radio rejected it in certain states. I feel like chart performance doesn't necessarily reflect social impact for the BTW era. Because so many people know and love BTW, Judas, You and I, Marry the Night and even random tracks... just a thought

Basically all the songs moved up or stayed the same besides BTW lol.

i feel like Judas is a super good example of chart position not being an accurate reflection of a song's impact because I'd bet 95% of the GP knows Judas purely because of the controversy it caused and the fact that people were looking at what BTW's followup would be

I still think Judas was an absolutely terrible choice to release two weeks before Easter. Not sure who thought that'd be a good idea, Marry the Night would've done so much better had it been the lead or second single rather than the fifth.

Judas should've been a single away from Holy Week lol

It shouldn't have been a single at all.

TEOG should have always been the second single from the beginning. Would've likely been another #1 hit but Judas killed the era's momentum.

Judas has a great video, so if it was not a single, then no video and its a fan favorite.

Also, I don't think TEOG not going #1 was Judas fault tbh. TEOG debuted at #3 because of being a promotional single and it was a few sales short from debuting to #1 and Rolling In The Deep and E.T. blocked it, that was some competition, so don't blame Judas...

Wet Fire

Judas was my crush when it came out. That intro. That chorus. That bridge. I lived for it. It is a great pop tune.

I think Born This Way (song) was very different from previous singles. It had a complex, intricate production. They made It sound a bit messy to add layers to the song. But it sounds super cool. A very well engineered track. Judas was more pop than BTW, though.

And I think if The Edge of Glory was not a promo single it would have hit #1. After the BTW and Judas controversy, it was difficult for TEOG to draw attention to just the music. Remember, many monsters and many from GP declared it to be the greatest song by Lady Gaga that time. Plus, the video failed to attract viewers.

NIGHTCRAWLER

I'm still choked that some radios banned this song.. I mean, art? freedom of expression? this is just censorship and it's not even justified

TEOG did not reach #1 because of 2 hits above. Plus if it is directly released as a proper single I think there may be a higher chance for it to reach #1.

Judas peaked at #10 but is still considered a hit I believe. It under performed, but not flopped.

#LoveJudas

If Judas is not released near Easter do you think it'll reach a higher position?

Judas was big hit in EU and LA. So what if it was irrelevant in USA? I was 10 years old at that time, and still remeber Judas been played in radio stations across the EU (especially in Spain). Also it’s one of her biggest hits in Latin America.
