Gaga's acting in it to me was 7/10 at best. And the scene where she was being pulled on stage her facial expression was very bland in relation to her voice

Like it's hard to tell just from a trailer but I don't expect her acting to be out of this world

Of course, there's more to the movie than just Gaga's acting

Yeah, just start worrying about random articles that don't matter.

I think it's interesting how I see more non-Gaga fans saying her acting looks good while most criticism of her acting (in the trailer) comes from Gaga fans. I actually have a hypothesis about this

I think because we know the ins and outs of Gaga's face, her emotions, her expressions, etc. it's harder for us to believe her when she's acting. We've seen her cry for real over the years so for example when she's acting crying we can tell the difference. For someone who doesn't know her so well, it's easier for them to believe the honesty in her performance.

her role in american horror story is also praised as hell by GP simply everywhere I read about it, but the only ones complaining are her fans. She won a fvcking Globe over this. xd

I really just can't with you guys writing an entire essay about Gaga's acting based on a few seconds from a trailer. Seriously, it's hilarious.

Especially considering the amount of compliments she's getting by big names in the industry. I mean, keep your negativity until you actually watch the movie, at least.

It’s being objective. Again, we’ve said based on the trailer. I don’t want to pretend to be optimistic when I’m just in the middle. I’ll judge her acting in the movie when it comes out. Though writers seem to think she has a chance so I’m good with it.

I totally agree with your hypothesis. It must be harder for the fans to separate Gaga's persona from the character she's playing. We are so used to watching Gaga being herself in our day-to-day life that it just becomes harder for us to immerse ourselves in a reality where she's someone else. It makes sense.

But it really pisses me off some fans talking like experts in acting skills, analyzing and rating her performance based on a single trailer (with very few dialogues, btw). While the people who actually saw the movie so far are praising Gaga's performance...

And it appears this writer hasn’t even seen the film, they are just joining a few dots.

It’s based on what they said.. A lot of reviewers who actually saw the movie said it will be huge competition. Just because it has some similarities to previous movie doesn’t mean it will be exactly like it. Actually I hope it will be nothing like the previous one because that one is not interesting.

It’s not. Similarities but that’s because because that’s Gaga’s schtick

Fine by me. I never expected the movie to actually be awards season favorite. what gaga really needs is a great commercial success like the bodyguard. And to win the Oscar for original song.

for me id does bc I just don't see ASIB comercially doing good not when VENOM is out the same week (plus it has so little views on the trailer)...by saying greater commercial potential I can only see moderate success on it w/ moderate critics, so I'd rather have poor commercial success with great acclaim (bc oscars)

the target audience for venom and ASIB aren't the same and there's no point even trying to put them against each other. venom is a major budget super hero movie, it's going to outgross everyone

youtube isn't the only place the trailer has been seen and it doesn't matter where it gets seen as long as it gets seen, the trailer must have over 100m collective views by now since i remember it hitting 70m not long after it dropped

anyways, every other media outlet thats talked about ASIB has praised it's chances at getting an oscar and the one in the OP is just a random opinion whilst the rest are from actual industry insiders

Personally I wasnt too keen on Gaga's delivery in the scene where she was pressured to go on stage nor in the part where she talks about not singing her own songs. HOWEVER that is based on a few seconds in a trailer lol and I am very VERY positive that the movie will do well and be critically acclaimed. I personally just felt she was stiff but that's a personal observation and I realize it does not reflect what the GP and critics see so I am happy about that. I am also surprised to see that some ppl think this is a bad career move or that it wont do well? I think the signs are all showing that ASIB will end up doing fairly well both in the box office and with critics. I'm not saying it will be some mega smash hit but I think the film will do very well and maybe get some Oscar noms if we are lucky! This is one of Gaga's best career moves.
