Have to disagree on the diverse part... Lana is literally always writing about the same stuff

LG melodies are some of the best.

Haven't looked into Lana's discography as much. What are some of her best lyrics?

Lana's songwriting is very repetitive, most of her songs are all about the same thing

care to type out every song that you think are about the same thing?

It's like apples and oranges. I do agree that Lana's lyrics are interesting and beautiful and this comes from someone who wasn't a fan of her until Lust For Life but I don't really see the point of comparing them.

I don't agree, Lana is too repetitive with her lyrics and themes, and is very cliche at times.

Lana's lyrics are way better than overrated Lorde's lyrics.

I feel like Gaga could write really personal lyrics but like sometimes she just doesnt. ARTPOP the album was really personal and had Gagas most personal and deep lyrics, but unlike Lana who can get away with lyrics like that, Gaga received so much bad press for being pretentious, which is so annoying. love Lanaa tho

Mary Jane Holland, Aura, Marry The Night, and ARTPOP(song) are good examples of Gaga’s unique and personal songwriting that I love and hope to see in the next album

Gaga has a really different approach on writing lyrics and Lana has hers, so I appreciate both

Lana is a better lyricist y’all being delusional to think otherwise. Gaga’s lyrics and melodies tend to follow the same pop formula intro(sometimes)/verse/prechorus/chorus/verse/bridge/prechorus/chorus/ending. Lana tends to have more control on how we listen to the music.

I think Gaga is an overall better singer and musician though.

While I stan Lana just as much as I stan Gaga, I must disagree.

You cannot take two completely different genres of music and compare lyrics. Gaga's lyrics are very eccentric and are meant to convey a message. Lana's lyrics are (excluding a major part of L4L), very sad and evoke a negative, depressive energy. I applaud both the girls on their lyrics, as they are both genius songwriters. Gaga often uses her voice and words in creative, "weird", and loud ways to convey her messages (i.e. Aura, Perfect Illusion, Scheisse, HML, etc.) Lana on the other hand, usually stays in the same register for the whole song, and tells a dramatic story throughout the song that keeps you on the edge of your seat (i.e. Off To The Races, West Coast, Carmen, This Is What Makes Us Girls, Coachella, etc.)

Agreed based on their discographies. Lana has more freedom because she isn't mainstream anymore. I'm sure Gaga is just as capable of writing deeper and more artistic lyrics. :selena:

Yeah, you‘re right! She created a new type of genre which is not mainstream.. it’s monotonous.
