She kept the same attitude in Hot N Cold too and only "explored bicuriosity" in I Kissed A Girl in a form of a straight male fantasy/fetish. I think the song points out all the stereotypes about the homosexuals. Just that. I think that to fully express your personality you should never feel the need to belong to any category or stereotype, but many many people actually belongs to those "categories" the song points out. In this way it's a clever song, because many actually fits the description katy sings - and since I hate categorization/stereotyping I like the song. This theme has been explored before—Amy Winehouse’s Stronger Than Me, for example. Also I don’t think Katy’s main goal (at that time anyway) was to be an LGBT icon—girl just wanted to make good music (which she did). She wrote songs that she wanted to write.
