People are allowed to consider her mediocre.. and you saying that the people that complain about the lack of pop are the same that critique her is just a generalisation. It's obvious that you are her fan and love her music but don't expect everybody to do the same.

Sis, don't try with these people. This site really has become a cesspool for music snobs. When they say "a popgirl needs to save the music" they mean Gaga needs to come back and make hits for them. No matter which new artist comes along, it will never be good enough for them. In their eyes Gaga basically invented singing, dancing, music videos, tours, fans etc. Everyone else is overrated, basic, mediocre, talentless, boring.

At this point you shouldn't try to prove them anything anymore and just enjoy the music.

i don’t necessarily mean Gaga, and all i need to stan a new pop girl is artistry, talent and confidence.. not that much  

As much as Gaga was probably the first person i’ve stanned, she’s fallen a couple spots down my fav list so no i dont think anyone else is boring or talentless

My problem isnt that people think shes mediocre; its *why* they think shes mediocre. Its this blatant favoritism that drives me nuts. Hate something, but at least be rational about it. People who make judgements when theyve listened to one song bother me the most.

And about the generalization thing, call me a liar on anything else, this stems true. And I stand by it. And you can see it in this thread too.

I love Dua Lipa, but her album (and her) has been overrated. It's an amazing album, but it's nothing special. It's true, not everyone can change the music world with their first album, but for now, she's mainly generic. She has amazing visuals and voice, but nothing show stopping or innovative. 

But, maybe, that's the new sound of pop music

While I do agree with your points, I have to mention that these Artists aren’t really doing anything revolutionary with their music. Their literally just trend hopping and like someone said above TD served visuals, bops, and looks for days. It was actually quite impactful too. (As it was Katy’s big peak with her 5 #1 singles). So you can’t really call it basic because it served visuals, bops and Fashion! It was a killer pop era! 

So yes they don’t deserve the hate, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that they are quite boring, mostly unoriginal, and aren’t doing anything for music.

Well you know, sometimes it's not rocket science - if the music's not that great, people just won't enjoy it.

Back when Gaga started out, I already had a lot of faves and was pretty content with them, I had no particular wish or anticipation of adding anyone new to the list. It happened because she makes good music and is one of the greatest performers on this planet, and it hit me hard.

All those new girls you're talking about in the OP, while I don't have anything against them, I gotta say I couldn't care less. Heard their music, saw them perform, and it just doesn't do much for me. I approach anyone new with the same openness I approached Gaga back in 2008. imo Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift are the only fairly new faces that are actually doing something great today. I don't have to like anyone simply because I'm gay and love pop music  Sometimes, it just doesn't work.

And that is just my opinion and the way I'm viewing things, I'm certainly not trying to generalize anything.

Just because Pop music is not on the forefront right now, doesn't mean people should be over protective over it. That is bad thing to do. It is like overprotective mother who can't hear any critics even if the motivational ones that gonna help her kids in the long run. Matter of fact, that could be why Pop is on the low right now, cos everyone is doing the same thing. It is just so over saturated. Nothing too exciting. And not really worthy of compliments. History just repeating itself here. Just relax. It happened to all genres. Enjoy the music if you like those. Some day pop will be the leading genre again, say 10-15 years from now. Then everyone can rejoice again.
