i’ll be sad if the dark phoenix movie is cancelled. :ohno:

From the rumors I've seen about this film, it was turning out to be a DISASTER.

idk if I should be excited about this or not :selena: On one side it brings some Marvel rights back to Disney/Marvel now that make the future exciting but on the other side it doesn't feel good if only one company owns almost half of Hollywood? I don't know... I kind of hope they still keep the studios apart, with 20th Century Fox being more targeted towards Adults and more Experimental Movies... :selena:

Well, I believe that actually, there are reason it was kept being pushed back

You could counter that argument by saying that WB has a lot of pretty big properties too. They had a lot of some of Hollywood's best-known movies. Right now they got the DCEU (it's not doing well, but it doesn't change the fact that it's a major franchise they have), they're killing the horror movie genre, and the Harry Potter series (w/ Fantastic Beasts).

There's a reason it got delayed so far back though. We didn't even hear anything at Comic Con this year, and the movie is supposed to come in February! I don't know, I sort of hope that they cancel this movie, and they probably will. I can't imagine Kevin Feige just allowing it to happen after this acquisition.

The Dark Phoenix is supposed to come out this November before pushing it to February 2019. The New Mutants is the one which was supposed to come out last February.

Wouldn't it be a waste of money, time and resources if they just scrapped it all together? Besides, the merger is happening somewhere in 2019 (probably by year end), so Fox can still release those movies next year.

Yes a little

The Department of Justice had to approve of this for this to go through, so apparently, they didn't think it was "too large." Plus, to compensate Disney has to relocate some of Fox's sports programs anyways.

Here's some reasons I'm not a fan of large corporations owning everything

I mean, yes, it would be a waste of people’s time, money, and resources but if the movie is as bad as we are led to believe it will be, then it’s a short term loss for a long term gain. Feige’s very particular when it comes to Marvel movies—he’s a fan of the material itself. I highly doubt he would want to release another Fox movie regarding the X-Men—whether it’s good or bad. And even though the merger isn’t technically happening until next year, I’ve heard that Disney and Fox have pretty much already worked things out. I’m pretty sure they were already talking even before this acquisition came into fruition.

I mean, I’m not going to argue the economic and political side of things cause quite honestly I don’t know too much about it. Just as a fan of the material though, I’m excited about where this is going.

Well if they keep things split like that or like Marvel and Lucasfilm still being their own studios, I think it will be okay.

I am just a bit worried, that when something goes wrong, it backfires in great style :selena: because everyone wants more and more and honestly, it just feels like something that could implode one day.

Absolutely disgusting. I could care less about the ‘new creative opportunities’ that are possible now because of the merger. Consolidation of media is not something to cheer for, especially these days.
